Whispering to players

Just seen the ingame ticker and it says you can 'whisper to other players' through the player management screen.
Does this just mean you can type messages to one player/your squad without anybody else on your team seeing it?
I did a search on this and didn't come up with any answers.

Bring up the score board, right-click to get your cursor, and then click the 'manage players' tab.

you have to go on your member screen and click on a name and you will be able to whisper to that person, but your name will also appear next to your whisper so the person knows who sent them a whisper

Thanks Talus but my question is what does the 'whisper' do or achieve,I've never come across this before until last week when a guy on our team was whispering to me...felt a bit creepy lol.

It's a private message that only that player sees.

Ya This has been in the game since the first beta I believe. I found out about it the day game came out by accident LOL. bout time their making users aware of the function. A couple of times however I got a CTD by using it.
