Red tag bug in 1.2 beta!!!

I was on my own titan in the hanger and a guy showed up red so i killed him. It said you killed SOMEGUY or whatever his name was. I was then punished for a teamkill. I checked and it wasnt someone glitching into our titan since he was on our team. This is clearly a red tag bug. I managed to get a screen shot. I am positive he wasnt glitching in since he was in my squad and i was talking to him on xfire.

But it didn't register as a teamkill though, did it? It would have been nice to get a screenie showing his tag in red.

It isn't due to 1.2 i can tell you that. I've run into it before ONCE in my entire time playing 2142

it is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence, but I have heard of a couple other people seeing it. Nowhere near as bad as in BF2 though.

This happened a few times to me in game. It isnt because of 1.2. It actually counts as a kill for you.
P.S. If you want to add to your dogtag collection, knife them. LOL

Ive seen it quite a few times on 64 conquest servers ... its just the same bugS as in BF2 ... the only change between BF2 1.0 and BF2142 1.2 is the fact that at some instances the client tries to prevent that bug resulting in no tag at all ... :rolleyes:

I'm not sure what you're screenshot is showing exactly but you killed someone called TheFriendlyGuy? Shame on you. ;)

It has always been present in 2142. Just much rarer than in BF2.

It usually occurs when someone switches teams. I have also seen friendlies with no nametag at all, even when you put the crosshairs on them.

I have never encountered this bug during the first months of BF2142 so maybe I have been lucky. But on saturday I revived a teammate on the enemy titan. Instead of "Adlitschna" (or something like that) he said "Cheers" and then he showed up with a red tag but still wearing the PAC uniform and shooting at the EU soldiers. Weiiiiiird :D

ya i wouldnt be suprised if your friend is hacking to where he comes up as teammate ive seen this in game before.

I've never seen the red tag bug in 2142 but I have seen the "no tag" bug. I joined a server and spawned, saw a player with no tag and killed him and got punished for a tk. I was well puzzled. I spawned again and did the same thing again to the same guy - oops.

I left the server and reconnected and that fixed it. This has only happened once though.

Yup, I have ran into it just once, in Titan mode. I TKed the poor guy twice before I realized he was a teammate :(

Oh man. this is the sole reason I stopped playing BF2. I haven't seen it yet in 2142 but if I do, it's a game breaker for me.

Instead of Red Tag, sometimes people on my team's tag goes away all together. So I have to watch extra hard not to TK them. Odd thing about this is when it happens, their name is off in the corner of the map, sometimes with a couple other names.

I've ran into the red tag bug before, just after the game was launched. I have some screens at home of the guy helping to defend our core. I team killed him twice before I figured it out, both times counted as a TK. Also a few weeks ago, I was playing on a conquest server, and there was a friendly with no iff. Fortunately FF was off, but man me and my clan mates musta shot that guy 10-15 times by mistake. It was actually pretty funny since we didn't get penalized for it.

I see you added another screenie...try to get the RED TAG in the screenshot next time...i.e. take a screenie before you kill him.

And as somebody has already mentioned, there IS a hack that does something similar...so maybe it was the hack.

i just love seeing screenshots of a beta and people are actually trying to vote kick each other, this should let you know why your next patch will be riddled with bugs even though it was beta tested. what a bunch of muppets.

I dont understand why every imageshack link I click comes out with a teeny tiny image. Are all of the images they store so tiny (150x128px)? Must be PEBUAK on my end.
