After trying the public beta, I have come to the conclusion that the core unlocks are superior to the NS unlocks.
But if you already have want you want from the core unlocks, then it of course makes sense to save the unlocks instead of wasting them on unwanted stuff.
Just remember that NS unlocks will be L5, so you need to unlock all 4 below the one you want. Currently I think the best strategy is to unlock the core branch fully, and then use a Field Upgrade on the NS unlock. You don't even need to own the booster to do that.

I'm going to waste an unlock on the Baur, then I'm going to save one unlock for the Advanced Magazine right away.
More Rockets YAY!
All the other unlocks can wait.

An unlock used on that rifle is NEVER wasted.
I mean, please tell me you've at least tried it.
Anyway, on topic: I don't see any real reason to. The new awards are so easy to get they're basically giving you 10 free unlock credits for buying the booster.

Shellsh0cker is correct, it's easy enough to get them after some hours of play, so I'd rather be using those instead of saving unlocks.

I am at BG & have saved 7 unlocks. I have what I need for all the kits, so I am going to save them till NS comes out.
Hey Shell ..... How do you know what the medals/badges are to get the new 10 unlocks in NS?

That would be an AWESOME strategy Vreki, if this game didn't have the "Lose Field upgrades" button ... I mean the "CTD" button ... I mean the "Join Game" button. LMAO

There is a thread about it over in the NS subforum: http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17853
Basically they seem to be "Pay EA 10$ Award", there doesn't seem to be much challenge.
So that will be good for those who insist on hammering the CTD button ;)

The Baur is by no means a waste oif an unlock, its the best weapon in the game when in the right hands. The PK rockets and Herzog ammo is going to be a beats, especially when 2 rockets kill from the PK and 4 ammo per clip for the Herzog which has the same damage and hit detection as the Clark is going to be awesome.
Although its more tempting now to not waste my life by putting the defib in my loadout only when to revive team mates have them scream back at me.

Thats pretty sad that an Assault player would NOT equip a defib no matter what.
I guess some people play for their points & not for their team!

This discussion has been had a million times, but to put it simply, there is no "wrong" way to play a kit. Just because you think someone should play medic doesn't mean they have to. Assault is the other half of the kit, you know. Some might want to play that. Some (like myself) opt for a hybrid. Everyone is different.
That said, back on topic. I currently have one unlock saved and will definetely use it on an NS unlock. The Clark RDX was going to be my first, but after reading some of the beta impressions I'm not so sure anymore. An extra SMG clip, while not flashy, is undeniable useful considering that I get into a lot of close quarters situations with engy. More ARs always help too, although I don't use ARs a whole lot. I'm still probably going to go with the Clark RDX though, since it'll give me a new type of shotgun to mess around with, which is always a good thing.

It's a simple choice, that's all. Personally I always kit the defib, but I've got no problem with another assault that doesn't. I may wish they DID if I get killed near them, but... m'eh. It's no greater sin to me than an engineer who didn't kit the defuser or a support who didn't kit the pulse meter. *shrug*

Ever thought of just playing the assault side? And not the medic side that gets ranted at so much by people like yourself? I have put my neck on the line way way way too many times for people who needed reviving having almost 300 revive pins but yet from the 1000's of revives i have done, ive had way too many complain that they wanted to die that you lose the faith after a while.
Equpiing the Herzog and PK rockets isnt going for points, its going for the full assault fun so go screw your comments.
