View Full Version : Server Control Problem

1. Clans make this game work as they input their time and money into running servers for all the other little grunts to play on so therefore they deserve some support.
2. There doesn't seem to be any ingame console commands for kicking players (the ones I've tracked down don't work)
3. Point 2 means that a third party server control is required.
4. EA's official response when questioned about the game crashing when a server admin ALT-TABs to use his/her third party server control software is "ALT TAB is not supported with this software". I personally crash EVERY time I ALT TAB. Some people only crash every second or third go.

Is there a way to get around this problem that I don't know about or are EA just sadist £$%^'s who want to deny point 1 and make my life difficult?

I'm not a member of the server's owner's lounge so I've asked out here to try to fix a major reason for pain in my life.

Hmmm. Have you tried searching for a fix to the alt+tab problem? Apparently there is something floating around out there that some poeple say works. Try searching in our support forum.

The ingame console command to kick someone is as follows:
1. Press J (this will get you into global chat)
2. "!k uber being a total asshat" without the quotes of course.

3rd party server control is there, it does not seem that you have really bothered to do any research on the matter though. It's called 2142CC and you can download it here: http://www.2142cc.com/

If you are using a Logitech mouse, install the Set Point software and use the quick app switch button on the mouse itself. It works without crashing the game for me.

I also thought there was a console command for kicking players?

admin.kickPlayer [player ID number] - Enter the ID number of the player you want to kick

Thanks for the information.

Is there a console command for assigning admin rights to certain people?

I currently use cc thanks, I just can't leave the game without crashing to actually use it. I will do a search for the alt-tab solutions as you suggest.

Try there, i havnt looked at all of them, so there maybe a command which lets you assign a player ID to an admin.

Alternativly, email the server hosting company to see if they know how.

admin.kickPlayer [player ID number] - Enter the ID number of the player you want to kick

Found that on the web already, tryed it and it didn't work. Also don't know how to assign admin control as per previous post.

That's a BF2CC/BF2142CC ingame admin command NOT a console command as the OP requested.

Before you use in-game admins you need to do the following:

*Log onto your game server
*While you are logged on someone needs to get into the CC program and right-click on your name and register you as an in-game admin (if you crash with alt-tab then someone else will need to do it). Apply, and you're all set!

In game admins is an easy and simple way to warn/kick/ban. Just use the !w !k or !b command. Then a space (not underscore), then you only need part of the persons name you want to warn/kick/ban. Finally you can hit space again and enter a reason if you'd like.

Be sure to use these commands with the global chat key, NOT the console!

GUYS...

To confirm what Uber is saying..

He/we cannot use CC's ingame admin facility. Our server provider (Multiplay UK blocks daemon access) so we only have very basic rcon functionality. This is the whole reason Uber was asking for "console commands" to kick people.

/\ Um... what he said! :)

I've found all these console commands on the net, none of which work I assume because it doesn't say how to assign admin rights.

All the ALT-TAB fixes I've found are sketchy at best.

This is a desperate cry for admin happiness!

Why does your provider block daemon access? Are there other providers that you could move to?

The in-game admin stuff has always sucked in the Battlefield games. This is why 2142cc is the official admin tool.

Thanks Mugsy. I think it is safe to say that as I thought, the in game commands don't work.

The reason the provider blocks Daemons is a long and boring argument. The solutions I guess is to get the provider to change or to change provider.

Yeah we use Multiplay and have had issues with this. With multiplay get your admin to register an account with them before making them an admin via clanforge.

Rcon console commands:

rcon login [password]
rcon kick [playerid] 'reason for kick'
rcon ban [playerid] 'reason for ban'
admin.listplayers (provides player id's PGUP/PGDN to scroll)

Obviously don't use the square brackets just the number, but you need to enclose the reason in the single quotes. HTH to get you started...

To display PB messages on their screen before a kick:

PB_SV_Kick [name or id #] [minutes] [displayed_reason]

ingame admin is called rcon. Rcon means "Remote CONSOLE"
