I know this has been brought up before, i did try searching for exactly what i'm on about but couldn't find any recent info on it.

As you're all aware the Zeller scope can be a nightmare for some people, i've never had two different extreme screen shots to compare though and now i do so I thought i'd mention it once again, see if there is indeed something you can do to change the scope so you can see through it.

Here is an example, this is a screenshot from my scope http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2151/zellerscopeiv3.jpg

and here is a thread where on the 3RD post you can see the opposite http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17870 , a completely clear and useable scope screenshot... thats the kind of scope i'd like. I know mine was taken on a desert type level but it gets even worse then that sometimes, did anyone ever find out what makes it different on some peoples machines? or if there is a way to fix it?

As it currently is I can only use the Zeller on a few ice levels because the white background compensates for the insane redness of the scope.

I think the higher your graphics, the better it looks. For me, it's just solid red.

Yeap .. dice keeps ignoring that bug ... the only way to use the zeller is to tune your texture quality all the way up ... but then most 1GB Ram systems are simply unable to run the game without permanently swapping and thus beeing basically unplayable ... :s

Edit: the issue is still present in 1.2 >_>

Ok thanks i'll have to try that texture thing.

All you have to do is go to the sectoion wheree your crosshair changes color, then adjust the color to diff levels, RGB, then the scope will change accordingly, I use to have my crosshair green, and the scope was orange, i changed my crosshair to red and now the scope is red too, so just keep changing it around.

Yeah, i love the scope personally. I guess it helps i have all settings on high though. I also have my cross hair red. I think i am ranked like 3,000 overall with that gun, not great , but not bad either. With practice it can be very deadly.

mine stops doing that as soon as my textures are turned to medium... only sad thing is my pokey 6600gt (agp version) locks up every 10 mins if I have the texture tunred even to medium. not a lil lock up either, a full fledged "must hard reset to get outta this one sucka"-Computer, sort of lock up. *sigh*

***EDIT***

haha... just kidding... i thought it got rid of it completely but after logging on and back off real fast i noticed that it is LESS red.. but still red.. and still unusable on maps like tunis

My settings are medium and I have a 7600GT, and I still get the red scope. I was planning on getting another GB of RAM anyway so maybe when that happens it'll clear up.

That should help out a lot if not fix the problem all together.

That is the point, it's about people that aren't able to run everything on high. Do you even read the posts before replying?

BTW, is it just me, or does your scope look a lot smaller than the one on the other thread?

IT does to me!

Constructive Post: yes, its HIGH textures that get you a clear Zellar scope, I use ALL low at 800x600, but put textures on high, which will last me around 5 rounds before an overheat CTD,

Put your 'textures' on high. That will get rid of the crazy redness scope.

another one who only seems to read half posts ... again .. just for you ... its pretty much impossible to run high textures on a 1GB system

Just because your system can't, doesn't mean the OP's can't.

I can run on high textures on 1GB.... with an x700 mobility...

Even through an artilery, at a solid 35 FPS.

and 48 player titan? I dont think so ... its just not possible .. and its not a mine is bigger than yours discussion. A typical WinXP uses 250-300 MB after a clean start. The engine and ui raises that to around 450MB leaving roughly 500MB for everything ... textures, map data, models, sounds ect ...
Medium textures, engine and system already fill up a 1GB systems ram ...

go ahead try it ... open up the task manager(there are better tools available but thats good enough), set the interval to slow, maximize that window, disable always-on-top, start BF with medium textures, join a server and run/fly/drive once across the map

Edit: screw Taskmanager, it reports trash ... use Rivatuners Hardware monitor

You know that picture in the other post with the clear scope... thats from me. I have 1GB of RAM along with a 7900GT... works fine for me.

You know that picture in the other post with the clear scope... thats from me. I have 1GB of RAM along with a 7900GT... works fine for me. well then you are clearly not playing on larger titan servers or you got the magic self compressing memory everyone is dreaming about... just for you two .. one nice chart...
http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/7521/bf2142titan48phightexby5.png
notice how the map loading time almost doubles because half the time the system is busy writing stuff into the pagefile just to free up some more memory? Notice the spikes while "playing"? Normaly at this point the cpu should be at 100% all the time ... but because the whole system is waiting for the harddisk to swap needed and unneeded textures back and forth between the ram and the pagefile the game gets pretty much unplayable ...
and now tell me how this could possibly be any different on your systems ...

Edit: way to get off the actual topic btb ... the point of this topic was to get dice to fix that one overlay texture for the damn zeller scope

heck if i know, my system runs fine in game... i might get some stuttering at the very beginning of a titan match but after that it's fine until the server loads another titan round.

Yes, 48 player titan on full textures works for me.

Well, if 1GB in't enough and 2gb is just fine, what's with those rare 1,5Gb rigs? Does anybody has a solid experience with high textures running or running not with 1536 mb ram?

IF yes, it is fine for you.
