I was just browsing through some of the bf2142 videos at youtube, and stumbled across the first trailer for 2142. It was really interesting to see all the changes that had happened since then (the eu had the pac transport, gunships had duel machine guns on the sides, walkers had a red hud) but what really intrigued me was the old accipter model. I thought it looked alot better back then, with the red eyes, and the big rifles on the side.

There's a bunch of things that could have led to them changing the model.

That old design looks cool, but... ah... would you really want one flying around over your head? I don't think I could come up with a better way to scream "SHOOT THIS GUY NOW!".

I also wonder about clipping/hitbox problems with the longer guns and more detailed body.

*shrug*

The new one is the way it is for a reason.

It probably was too large, too big of a marker. Although it does look sweet.

Same thing happened in bf2 as well. The early trailors' had some different things in them. Like the BH had missles, imagine that pre 1.2, or whenever they nerfed the BH.

somehow the early versions of the BF games seem way cooler and more fun. someone should take the original models and make a mod (same goes for BF2; i want a F-15 on mash with missiles that lock on to laser designators)
