I am a bit curious, but I haven't been able to try it since you need to have the Accipiter unlocked first.

Is it a passive unlock, or does it use the SL slot?
Must it be deployed?
How much does it decrease the spawn time?
Does it only work on the SLSB, or on all spawns by squadmembers?
Is there a minimum squad size requirement?

I think it reduces the spawn time by 5 seconds down to 10.
Not sure on the rest.

It's a passive upgrade to the SLSB.

You guys say this stuff is public? Where can i find info on the upgrades? Cuase they were "classified" on the NS site, and I have now 3 unused unlocks waiting to see if any of the new ones are worth saving for. Otherwise, I'll just complete another tree.

Its public in the sense that you can field upgrade them in the 2142 1.2 beta right now. So you'd have to try it yourself or ask people here who have used it.
If you're usually a SL i'd definately go for it but the thing is, the 10 new awards in NS wont be hard to get, booster pack awards never are... and they'll give you a new unlock for each award so... if i were you i'd fill another tree now if you really wanna use it and then just get them easy awards to get this tool, unless you're a die hard SL.

Oh and your sig rocks, definate kick *** quote there. Always MIA.

i think in conquest mode, this unlock might make the team lose more tickets to more frequent spawns.

If that was the case, then a team could win the game by agreeing to wait 90 seconds between each spawn ;)

A shorter spawn time means that you on average have a higher number of soldiers available than a team with normal spawn time, since less time is spent being dead.

And if everything else is equal, the side with most soldiers will win.

TRUE!

It is a passive unlock, does not take up a slot. I've tried it a few times in 1.19b; it doesn't decrease my spawn time and my squad members would never tell me if it decreased theirs.

He could be partially right. It takes 5 seconds from a medic that he could use to revive you and therefor save the ticket. So its not always good to spawn within 10 seconds. But the medic revive thing is more an execption. Basically you are right. :)

True, somehow it is easy to forget that there actually are medics with defibs out there :D

But I must admit that the "more soldiers" advantage probably is at the most a few percent taken as an average.

I see the real advantage where both sides are dropping like flies, e.g. choke points or control points. There the quicker respawn might just make the difference.

So am I right in saying that, in this open beta, not one person has figured out exactly what unlock does? Rather than guessing?

Has anyone got any real information on what this does before the thread gets clogged up with people talking about the pro's and con's about pure speculation?

ThirtyOughtSix,
You have said that this is not a passive upgrade.
Are you saying that a squad leader can equip either the normal sqaud leader becon, or the upgraded one?
"Nope" did not really help us understand the nature of the unlock.

I took advantage of the free unlocks and tried it.

There is no way of equipping it so it must be passive. If you look at the customize screen there are only room for the three existing SL unlocks anyway.

I didn't notice much of a difference, I am not even sure if it benefits the SL or only the SM.
