Mk.7 Titan?

It appears Northern Strike will be getting another vehicle when it hits EA LInk this march.

The expansion will add three new vehicles: the FAV Hachimoto for the PAC, the IFV Goliath for the EU, and the Mk.7 Titan for both coalitions, set to be announced in early February. Instead of ranking up to gain unlocks in Northern Strike, players will get unlock credits for receiving one of the ten new awards, consisting of two badge sets. The other awards will consist of four ribbons for various in-game tasks. Additionally, the booster pack will contain three new maps and a new game mode called Assault Lines. A developer interview on the official website also hinted at a new pin. In the public beta release of v1.20, the BFHQ page is updated with Northern Strike unlocks and awards, and the pin mentioned is the Assault Lines Pin. Additionally Electronic Arts has only announced the booster pack being available via the EA Link instead of being available from a retail store.[8]

Can we be sure that wikipedia information is correct, anyone could have edited that page to say Mk.7 Titan, and it was a recent edit, because i looked at that page before at it mentioned all the same stuff apart from the Mk.7

and Mk.7 is a rather strange name, currently we only have the Mk.1 and Mk.2 and it sudenly jumps to 7?

the map featured in the 3rd trailer is a titan map, and each of ther other 2 trailers have shown a vehicle as the main focus, perhaps this is the huge surprise EA has in store, because we know everything else


i sure hope this is true, a new titan!!!! kickass!!!

Actually, it's the MK-1 and Type 2 Titan, for the EU and PAC respectively. I do remember hearing something about an "Epic Titan" mode, and the NS maps page (http://www.totalbf2142.com/page.php?do=nsmaps) mentions such a mode. "Epic" may just be an adjective being used to describe Titan mode, though.

the evidence for, includes wiki, the word "epic", and the way the trailers are set out, with the last and final trailer being on a titan map, with each trailer having a vehicle as the focus, it wud fit in perfectly

on the other hand, thes absalutely no solid evidence of it thats ever been leaked, Mk.7 sounds kinda made up, wudnt it be Mk.3 or Type 3

well in that case, the word "epic" must some how tie into the new titan, and the difference it makes from the regular titan mode


however, its not like ea to keep sumthing like that a secret, it would be mentioned in the list of features for the game, to generate hype long before release for more sales

2. Who, exactly, decreed that there would be three trailers? What's wrong with two?

conclusion usualy means teh end, teh last trailer


the main evidence towards this being true, are the trailers, and the fact each is focused on a new vehicle, and the fact the 3rd and final one, takes place on a titan map, and the last would be the one with the suprise in it, and the general theme is that the trailers are all centered on a new vehicle


it wouldnt be in the beta, because i dont think ea are stupid enough to realise that dispite the NDA, prety much everything is gona get leaked, and its only a titan, dice could test it inhouse by themselves, its not a whole map


that and what wiki sais, is the only evidence, otherwise thes nuthing

Maybe it's all about Remagen, because we had Port Bavaria and Leipzig in the two trailers. Maybe they will show how the horizontal pod launcher works.

Having a new "hidden" Titan in NS would be utterly irresponsible from EA .... Think about how much the 2142 beta titan differs from the one we got now and all the issues we still had despite months of beta testing.
Another thing to consider is how much stuff and traces from BF2 and its XP/BP are still in BF2142, I find it highly unlikely that there will be a new Titan - at least not in THIS BP.

Hey DICE? How about a Titans-only game mode? Just a bunch of titans(flags) hovering/flying above nothing but ice/sand/water. The opposing sides could need to destroy/repair/defend the "intermediate" titans in order to pod to the next one and finally destroy/conquer the enemy titan.

Or how about a bunch of enemy titans (automatically) moving (in podding distance) from one side of the map to the other. You team will have nothing but transport ships to get on one of them and has to conquer/defend each of them.

Or how about one GIANT titan docking station. The attackers approach with one Titan and have to conquer/destroy crucial parts of the docking station before the defenders blow up the titan with their anti titan missiles.

Google only found mk.7 Titans referenced on that wikipage, which conveniently doesn't have any reference for the quote.

Having the same Titan for both sides would also seem a bit odd, as has been said one side uses the Mk.nn series, while the other uses the Type.nn series.

I would love to see a redesigned Titan with less camper friendly corridors, but I don't think that article has much credibility.

Well, from his descriptions, they all sound like the Titans would be static (or functionally so). So they could be map object, which would pretty much eliminate the lag issues.

Drevor, great ideas, PM CKMC with those or something, seriously. "Clash of the Titans" would be such an awesome XP/BP.

Yep, and i agree. What does it really matter how it fits in the story? Just say something like EU spies stole the Blue prints for the the PAC's latest Titan and hey presto you've got reasoning.

The whole part about the new Titan was not fake. But however, it IS doubtful it will be in this expansion. If you look in the general forum, someone found a model of a titan that looks way different in the beta files. From the picture I've seen, it isnt even textured. The speculation now is that it's for a future booster, not this one.

DICE said themselves that there would be no more Boosters. IIRC, there was a link to the interview where they said that on the front page a couple days ago. Anyway, Mouse is right, unless theyre gonna make an expansion, then there will be no more new 2142 content. :(

But if they DID manage to keep something like this a secret, then that would be cool. Dont know if they could do that though.

If they added a new titan to this booster it would be a huge waste as both of the two maps that allow for Titan mode aren't that great.

but there's no new titan so it's all irrelevant.
