In a world where the servers were all powerful and peoples computers could handle it, I would like to see the next bf2142 be on a much larger scale where players MUST be in a squad to play. Make it more realistic, make communication an essential part of playing (I don't know, bundle a mic with the game or something)

Give squads different objectives to achieve to complete an overall goal, e.g. destroy a bunker, break into a facility, destroy a comm tower. I don't know, just something more than capture the flag. Also, I haven't quite thought out how the defending team could win!

I don't know, but there must be a next step to this kinda game, rather than just raising more flags that your enemy.

Even titan mode is essentially the same thing, any ideas???

That'll be Quake Wars then

Ok, Ok, well does anyone know how we could take the game forwards, I am NOT talking about storylines, I am talking about actual additional gameplay modes

Quake Wars sounds as though it will be everything BF should have been.

They actually tested it :O

Well, I'm guessing the PAC and EU will nuke each other at some point when the war is reaching its end game, which will deepen the nuclear winter, meaning even less land and food available to the survivors. Maybe the missions could be like this
"OK, men. We have a rumour that there is a crate of beans that is only slightly radioactive. I've managed to rustle up four pointy sticks and I've fashioned a catapult from my underwear elastic. Godspeed to you all!"

But seriously, I would like to see more mission orientated maps. Like having one side having to capture and destory a command and control centre, and the other side defending, or having like a landing map were one side has to establish a beachhead against the defenders. The problem is, its hard to keep the BF style of gameplay without reducing the map to basically a glorified conquest or titan map.

hehe...just had a look at the quake wars site and it looks pretty much like 2142! but I really hate the name Strogg (sounds like a 80s video game alien race, and yes, I do know that the Strogg have been in quake for quite a while!)

I think Dices plan is to next ask us all to bend over and lube us up. Oh wait that was the plan for 2142. Hmmm, not sure how they can top that one.

If only they would go back to the paper rock scissors gameplay of their roots from 1942 where the combat was skill and tactics based. Oh well, a person can dream.

its the other way around, 2142 looks like quake wars

as for next step forward, as long as people pay for substandard content then Dice/EA dont really need to evolve the game too much

it would be cool for a planetside style battlefield game with battles raging across a planet but the way i see it, youd be in the middle of a massive battle and your entire army would just CTD and you lose...
