I was playing around with the NS unlocks, and have come to the conclusion that the Engi kit is excellent for titan assault. Heres why

The motion mine bait destroys apms. Want to go down in that vent but dont want to be blown to smithereens? Just through down your motion mine bait and say good bye to apms (dont know about rdx though. probably not)

Increased smg clip makes the smg, a gun that was already pretty awesome at close range even better. Still cant really get the guys at the far end of the hall, but pretty good for most ranges fought in the titan

Nothing new, but the pilum of course can take out the consoles, meaning you dont have to sit around waiting for someone else to blow it

Functions just like the EMP grenade...3 are equipped and they CAN be resupplied.

Don't worry APM whores, you can still by the upcoming booster pack (1337 Opz!!11 : APM ASSAULT, available in June). That booster removes engi's from the game, so you can spam away!

Are you saying that the motion mine bait works on APMs? Because I thought the bait's soul purpose was to remove the motion mines.

Unfortunately, it doesn't make the APM's fly back to their dropper, but instead they kind of fizzle and then blow up. I don't know the effects on RDX.

Motion Mine Bait is great for that armor guy that triggers your Mines but stops moving. Playing Gibraltar and had the EU pinned back at their back base and trying to finish them off. After dropping thier walkers health down to 20 he bailed out so I stole it and fixed it and then camped by the orbital against the back wall keeping anyone from getting out of the base while teammates made the push inside. I had a gunner taking out guys on the second floor and a support watching for any recon that tries to RDX me.

Then an engi throws 3 mines out from the second floor before my gunner kills him. I'm thinking no problem,I'm not going anywhere and the mines will disappear soon since he's dead, so I'm not worried. Then another engi throws a MM Bait at my feet......BOOM. Smart use of the bait got him two kills courtesy of me and my buddy.

Sweet, I love playing Engi, but it used to be a pain in the backside when the titan shields went down because I knew I'd be less effective on a titan. This is good to know.

The support stuff is nice too. The Scanner is not as unbalancing as I though, although being able to stick it onto a drone seems a bit cheap. I really like the RDX shotgun too.

Titans are not easier to assault or defend (as the new kit is advantageous to both sides), but it's certainly more fun attacking and defending a titan now.

Main difference is the bait will pull the mines away from you. You have to get the bait near the other explosives to actively defuse it. Should help in the vents and halls of the titan.

As if Titan guns werent annoying at first. Now I have 3 engineers up there repairing the same gun while I put 6 rockets in it :rolleyes:

But you have to get incredibly close to use it.

If you were on the back of an enemy titan and there was an apm on the floor in the vent, you wouldnt be able to reach it.

But yeah, I wasn't to thrilled about the motion mine bait before, but that sound pretty nice. I think I'll keep my trusty defuser for now though. It doesn't seem like it'd be that much more effective.

ya so Recon get almost nothig and in additon his abilities are limited now, great ....
ps before someone say somehting, ghost is funny but almost usseles, and camo is funny too but every support + anyone with high graphics settings will see recon in active camo (also i want add than Support is not rare used class by ppl)

I do think that the recon are at a disadvantage with the new unlocks but due to their constant ways of APM spamming, RDX jihadding and not using a gun the whole round leaves me no sympathy for them at all.

In 1.1, the range of the defuser was increased for this very reason.

Hes right it now 10m range so you can defuse down the titan vents now.

Does the defuser work if you don't have line of sight? The smart Recon defending his vent will put the APM out of sight of the manhole, but close enough to still blast you when you drop down through it. The MMB might be able to get those if you throw it right.

It works on RDXs too? Alright, I'm sold.

And on a side note...does anyone even use EMP Mines? I know I did but only until I unlocked motion mines/defuser. I've only seen a handful actually used by players.

EMP mines + Motion mines are breed of eneginer in stoping FAVs trygin to go trough secnd UE flag on Camp Giblartar, EMP stop FAV and Motion Mines kill ppl :)

you know how the bait blows up the explosives together? does this explosion hurt enemies? meaning, can you throw one near enemies and explosives and get a kill out of it? its a really cool unlock after trying it out.

Yep, i am also the guy that's lonely defending the back flags on Gibraltar. EMPs work magic there, no need for Defuser or PDS-1 when defending a flag against FAVs. Although, PDS can be helpful at times.


And yes, the explosion of the exploding mines do damage enemies, when in range it's a one hit kill and the enemies are not revive-able. Although, they need to be very stupid to not see a Bait thrown at you.

Depends on the range of course... But yeah. I'm sure to use it once in a while when I want to be sneaky about it.

Ahhh... It is nice when the Engy gets some tender loving care. He sure needed it.

Am I the only person that uses Zeller to disable all Motion Mines APM Mines and RDX ?


To bad in titan when I explode an enemy RDX 7 i don't get kills but the guy gets TKs lol. Love it when they are down to recactor core and keep exploding apm mines and rdx7 while they are placing them

I thought the extra mag for the side arm did the same thing for Engi, so if I'm correct the Engi can have two extra mags.

No, the personal upgrade gives an extra mag, while the new NS upgrade puts more bullets in the mag.

i feel that this will make the gold explosive badges almost impossible without padding, i wouldnt be surprised to see c4 servers now...

Just be smart about it and hide your C4 in places your sure people won't expect C4 to be. Engineers can't defuse what they don't know about. ;)

No, does not effect RDX... only mines.... ALL mines. The bait will detonate APMs, EMP mines, and Motion Mines.

BTW, did you know you could ALREADY flush out the vents with one RDX? Oh, and RDX WILL destroy other RDX. Drop RDX, detonate it.... dead bad guys, no APMs left, no RDX left.

Yes, when the mines detonate, they WILL hurt anyone nearby.

NOOOOT exactly. They don't detonate immedately... they follow it, freak out by circling the bait like mad for about 5 seconds, THEN explode. If the walker isn't where the bait is when that happens, you just did him a favor. No, it's better to let the mines do what they natrually do... go after the walker themselves. If you put them in a bad spot, just pick them up and sneak up to the walker yourself, drop them again.

meh, rdx means I have to play recon, which isnt terrible but I dont like being forced to do that. Plus Ive had several occasions where I put the RDX directly on the APM and it doesnt blow it up (only seems to happen occasionally on titan, and yes it was enemy as when it didnt blow up I thought it was friendly... and the rest is history :rolleyes: )

yes I liked Engi before, but I just made this thread to kinda say "hey, now its really sweet!"

Whats so Important about a defusing grenade? You can just get by APM's by crouching and the Zeller is a anti material rifle to get rid of those pesky RDX pax.

problem is people are smart and put just out of site... doing that same effect by dropping down and getting blown away.

PLUS the defuser cant work through walls, MMB can go around walls:)
