Can someone please explain to me how to win as recon. I dont mean spamming APMs and RDX all over the place. Rushed post because Im pissed at my K/D ratio and half the players using the Voss.

Basically, any tips? Preferably offensive recon?

Get Lambert and master it. And use AC with RDX for the vehicles. Pretty much the one class that can take up anything.

What do you mean by win? If you mean help the team win then Recon is a great asset.

Stay out of sight. Pick off targets. Mine positions. Destroy commander toys and spot enemies so your soldiers know where they are.

Unlock the Lambert. I like it as much as the Voss. I laugh at the recon whores who attempt to use sniper rifles in close combat.

use the lambert like an SMG in that you should never stop moving in close combat. There is no need to burst fire at range

At close to mid range, full auto it. It has little recoil or deviation to be effected.

mid range, burst or something.

Anything else, try to get closer.

Active camo helps for long distances.

Get quick with a sniper and play open maps. Recon on a map like Gib or Tunis isn't going to have as high a KDR (sans APMs, since you asked) as one on a larger map because as you've noticed the Voss will smoke you and medics are more plentiful on those maps. On open maps you can have the distance advantage over your opponents so even if you meet a Vosser he'll be too far away to do anything about you most of the time. Plus with RDX you won't be useless against vehicles either.

vik09's Offensive Sniper Guide (http://www.totalbf2142.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15278&highlight=offensive+sniper)

Just don't panic when someone starts shooting. Line up that headshot. Most of the time they will get your health way down but all you have to do is land that one shot and then go looking for an assault with a medpack.

with lambert just get in close. it has basically no recoil, so aim for the upper torso/head and hold down trigger till theyre dead. You dont have to spam RDX, but when I played recon I would place it on enemy transports that landed on titan- when someone used it as spawn point, I let them know it was a bad choice. Just remember though, Lambert is not good at long range (ok at medium).

sniper i guess is self explanatory.

If all the players had the same skill with the weapon then:

Baur>Lambert>Voss

The lambert in the right hands will kill a voss player, you just have to remember, which i most of the players on the battlefield dont remember at all AIM FOR THE HEAD!

I always aim for the head with my Baur and get people calling me a hacker when i down them instantly.

So Master the Lambert and you can beta the Voss users, but my Baur will destroy you :D

Don't snipe. Well, you can if you want to but I'm bad at it so you're on your own if you want to snipe.

Get the Lambert. Don't engage at long distances, work your way toward the enemy and pwn them. Drop APMs in places people wouldn't suspect them, C4 assests and vehicles if you can. You should drop two APMs every spawn, just to increase your chance of getting kills. Sometimes leaving C4 traps on silos/flags works but a lot of times people will just defuse them before you can blow them (trust me, I do that all the time while I play engy). If you use the Camo, make sure to take routes that aren't often used or booby trapped by enemy recons/snipers. I guess that's it?

If you snipe, keep moving. The amount of times i just strafe left and right whilst I reload before I pop someone standing still's face off.

And get the stabilizer - godsend.

Keep in mind that the recon kit wasn't designed to be an in-your-face assault setup. It's designed for stealth, distance killing, demolition, and boobytraps. The best recon players in my experience are the ones you don't know are there. I've been in way too many close-range firefights with the Lambert to know if the other guy has a Voss or Krylov and isn't half blind, then I'm dead. And as much as the APM's get a bad rap, they really are a legitimate weapon, I don't care what any whiners say about them. They are used in real war, so get used to it. Really though, the biggest advantage of the recon is the RDX. This is probably one of the most powerful tools in the game. It's anti-vehicle, anti-infantry if used in traps, demo for the commander utilities and Titan, and just plain fun to use. Master the RDX, and you'll rack up points and really help the team to win.

I assume that this (http://battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf2142/PlayerDetails.aspx?Lang=us&SrchName=&PID=82170471&Profiles=) is your soldier?

Well, as the others said: use lambert+ac+rdx. Be a sneaky one, don't try to play recon like a clark support or a voss-assault. Try to be the one who sees his enemy first, make yourself a harder target by moving sidewards and nail them with short burst aimed on the upper chest. The lambert is not a bad weapon, but it is not a head on cqc weapon like the voss and you've got 10 bullets less, so spray and pray will lead you to nowhere.

I try to be tactical about APMs. So best advice i can give is place them around corners near flags that are possibly going to be the other target. The lambert is great when sneaking up on people, so stay out of sight, no charging in sort of thing, unless you have a medic that is nice enought to stay alive, clear the area, then revive you  I find i do best when i dont just stick with my default layout. I start off with the lambert and APMs, then move on to sniper with the gruber to take out pesky camping supports and other snipers, and change back at will, occasionally using the cammo and RDX for armor whores on cerbere, gibralter, belgrade, berlin. Sticking to one style all the time hurts you more often than not. Helping the team out by adapting to what is needed tends to get me more points than just charging into the fray with apms flying...

Whats a good map to get 20 kills on? Camp Giblratar, formally my favorite map, has gone to the dogs, and is impossible to play these days....

just pretend your vietcong, works wonders for me!

anyway, use the lambert on single shot, or two round burst at med range, full auto anything closer, use camo to run from place to place, dont knife, at all, for the love of god its not worth it! aaaand, read Vika's offensive sniper guide.

Heh, one thing I never understood about the knife is why use it if it only registers half the time, and when it does, the target screams when you slice him :(

But yeah, I just shoot him in the back most of the time.

Recon....RDX and Zeller is enough for me
I can kill anyone with vos point blank with rdx 7 low-5meduim range and long range with sniper. Learn to aim quickly for the head and use the rdx as c4 in bf2. place them hit shift run BOOM dead.

I can easily get over 40 kills with rdx alone.

Coming from Expert Badge Recon/Explosives (and other crap) :P (1st expert badge ever got was Explosives LOL)

put on your stabilizer on the lambert and you have the autosniper:D

Zeller plus Stablizer, get good with that combo and you can take out most players easily. It's surprising effective up-close and uscoped, just fire off a round and switch to your pistol.

Try to strategically place APM's

Here's a senario:

Camp Gibraltar. PAC forces had taken most of the map, with them taking the Toll Bridge, Central camp and Ruins. Their main assault was on the EU main base. I was PAC, as recon, sneaking around the base to destroy the assets with RDX. I got a field upgrade, and most of the guys were on to me by the time I destroyed two assets, so EU were at the building beside the Orbital strike asset, so I picked them off whenever I could with my sniper rifle. I was soon killed.

I unlocked the APM's before I was team switched (:(), and got my APM's ready. I then proceeded to plant them near the entrances to the bases flag (the one with the assets now blown up). I ended the round with 13 kills from APM's alone.
