I'm having issues getting the 20 required kills in a round using explosives. I spend the entire round using nothing but RDX and APMs, but hardly make a dent in the requirements. I tried Titan corridor camping, holding out silos/flags, actively hunting people and throwing RDX at their feet (Boy that got me called a number of names). Any tips? I think the biggest issues I'm having are a) waiting/looking for opportunities to blow people up, and b) running out of explosives prematurely

Yes, waiting and running out of time. Id say start the round off as an engi, laying mines, then move on to recon towards the end of the round. Timing seems to be everything.

Course this point has no value if you have to use one kit to obtain that badge/medal. Not sure.

Biggest tip I can give you is don't play on the big servers. Go for a 16-24 player server. Why? Time. Rounds last longer. More opportunities for you to kill people with explosives. Also, it's kinda like going for the knife badge...sneak up on people, and instead of knifing them throw RDX on them!

Constantly ask for supplies.
Be smart about your APM placement, don't just throw them about willy nilly and in the open, put them where you KNOW people are going to go. Put RDX in places people would never see it coming, hide and blow it up as they run past. You got to get creative. The explosive badges were the most fun to get for me. I had some hillarious rounds going for the gold.

Edit: I dunno if this is the best map for it, but it worked for me. I got my gold on Cerbere Landing.

I got this the other day by surprise. A good map is Camp Gibralter. Just spam apms at the flags and alleys. You also need a game that is gonna last a decent 30mins plus. 24 player with no time limit should do it - just pray your team doesn't hold all the flags and end the game quick.

yeah, me too, its a tricky badge. you could try titan corridor apm defending (oh no prepared to get flamed) i know I personally got kiilled like 30 times yesterday when I was trying to get my titan attack badge, by all the apms in the titan.
I hate APMs on the titan, but sometimes it's the only way to get the explosive badge, so I tell you this hoping you wont use them against me :D

All my APMs generally get triggered...But I can only have two out at a time. Sucks.

Maybe I'll try some camo+rdx and see how that works out.

If your titan is being attacked heavily, and the enemy is podding up using APC's, RDX those, and when you see somebody spawn in it, pull the trigger.

I got this badge at Gold level easily playing on Titan servers. Play normally, but make sure you always drop your APM's around the back of a friendly silo. This is usually good for 1-2 kills every few minutes. You can also do the same thing with RDX. Drop a couple packs around your silo, then hide somewhere out of sight for enemies to show up. BOOM! At least 1, usually 2+ kills. Unfortunately, this badge is easier to get when your Titan's shields go down first.

After sabotaging the silos for a while, go back to your Titan and play defense. I found a good tactic is to pod up and place some APM's either on the very very top of the Titan (between the walls where the AA turrets are), or on the top where the vents are. Then go to corridor 1 or 2 and place one RDX pack on the INSIDE wall of the entry to the hall. When you see an enemy stick his head around the corner, hit the trigger. Sometimes they'll have buddies with them, and you'll get more than one kill.

I actually got my Gold Titan Defense badge using these tactics as well. Worked well for me!

You're not being sneaky enough then. Hide them out in areas where a tanker will be thinking about stopping to avoid the mines at the flags. Easy. certainly not out in the open.

So since sneakiness is the key to all explosives kills, i still maintain that this ought to be the explosives scoundrel badge.

I rarely use APMs but since the new patch came out I went for the Gold. I killed so many people with APMs I felt so low :(

Just stick APMs around the back of silos and also one in that covered area. If you see a group of people or a unsuspecting vehicle RDX it. When your shields go down put APM either in the vents or on the top deck close to the wall facing outwards (of course you need a strong attacking side for this to work). Once your APMs are down go in the vents, when I was doing it there was nade spamming in one of the corridors so there was always a cluster of enemys wondering what to do next. Run along the top and drop a couple of RDX down, 3+ kills :D. I got around 40 - 50 kills that day, I felt low.

FF off helps with tons of titan kills using RDX, especially when attacking or defending the core. Combine that with strategically placed APMs and it's a no-brainer.

Titan defense is the place to go... play on a FF OFF server run into the middle of the attack team drop a pack of RDX and right click for the clacker... KABOOOM!!! ...Lotta dead enemies. You will get called a noob and piss people off, but you will get Explosive silver and or Gold.

AboveAndBeyond I think has the best plan. Once a couple of consoles go down on your Titan, defenders dig in and the attackers are standing around staring at the next console corridor wondering how they will get in. Pod to the back of your Titan or run through a corridor that is already blown and drop RDX from behind their group. It is easy to get resupplied, just run to where your grenade-spamming defenders are.

I got both my silver and gold on a 64-player Gibraltor map. There are so many choke points and both sides usually hunker down between Office Ruins and Central Camp. Use the catwalks and drop apms and rdx on people. Cloaking helps too but only a little. Playing on a FF-off server helps some too. Be aggressive.

Jihad jeeps fun but no.

Find FF off servers and RDX throw and detonate with you still there cuz FF is off.

Jihad tanks/apcs and walker noobs until the shields go down then APM/RDX spam the titan.

I got mine on a large titan server (24v24). I would just drive round with RDX on a jeep blowing groups of people & vehicles up, placing my APM's on the silos to get extra frags. Then when a shield went down, i started either defending or attacking, placing APM's and running around looking for people to C4.

There's so many ways to do it, just be quick and persistent, and think how to be efficient and productive!

in 1.2, apm ff is permanetly fixed OFF. run around with your apm, when u see an enemy drop it and lure him over to u. when u run out of apm, drop your rdx at the enemy. find those super packed servers. i got my gold in cerbere landing, 48 players by spamming apms :P

No offence but silver explosives badge is a piece of piss, and gold isn't that hard either. I think if you don't know how to get alot of explosives kills you haven't played the game enough.

If you have the overall required kills, you can kill 2 birds with one stone and get both your gold and silver in one round. I did it for my knife silver & gold.

I don't have a SS, didn't realise it was such a tough thing to get on a legit server (have never played knife/pistol on 2142, only BF2). I got mine on suez titan, was going for the silver and got it pretty quick, and thought there was an outside chance if i got 7 more I would get the gold. Just played as recon rushing silos with a lot of people so i could get a lot of knife kills in the confusion, it really isn't that hard..

Anyway, you can probably tell from their stats, looking at their unique dog tags compared to overall, and if the gap is big then you know they frequent knife servers.

I just earned my explosive silver badge and did it on a 64 man Gibraltor battle of epic proportions. I played recon the entire round and spammed APMs (on the attacking side). I kept the cloak with me too, since I needed a way to replace the mines. The toll station was where I got the largest chunk of kills - just placing APMs by the gate by the big wall. If you approach the toll from the beach, follow the wall to your right and place them just back from the little fence. I realized about halfway through the map that grenades probably also count for the explosive badge, so I started spamming those. It is best to have two APMs placed everytime you die for the residual kills. I didn't get a gun kill until I was almost to the badge - if someone was coming at me, I just dropped a claymore and hoped they'd trip it if I didn't escape. Still ended with 24 kills to 15 deaths.

For my bronze badge, I defended my titan using the APM/cloak combo as well. I found the best place for the APMs is on top of one of the crates just outside the two lower corridors. I tried blocking the vents, but everyone does that now and crouches through there anyway.

On another note, I did resort to "stealing" friendly APMs and replacing them - but only if one of mine had already gone off and I couldn't find a supply troop. My reasoning is that the original placer has possibly died and his APM will dissappear soon anyway. Some of them I would replace in a more efficient location because it seems like a lot of people were just throwing them as they ran.

I have been trying to get the explosives bronze and silver badges for about 6 weeks. I had the global requirements for silver, but I could never get more than 6 or 7 kills in a round. I finally got both badges this morning in 1 round--first try after reading all of the tips posted in this forum:

Snuck around my titan in defense RDX'ing folks
Placing APMs in areas where folks would not be looking and would be running
Camped the vents for awhile as well

Thanks to everyone who posted tips. These forums have been a huge help to me on the difficult badges/ribbons--thanks again.

I tried for a while to get my silver badge- spent a lot of rounds charging around packed infantry maps, bouncing around throwing APMs like a fool.

Finally got my silver badge. Thought to myself- "righto, now I can start playing properly again". Found out at the end of the round that if I'd kept at it and gotten two more kills (18 APM kills dammit!) I would have gotten my Gold badge in the same round !!!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! I would never have had to use explosives again!

They can be fun to use but it definitely feels like a lame way to play. Run up to a enemy squad, throw your APM at them before you die- then get 3 kills a second later. <shrug> oh well.

I got mine on the FMJ Camp Gibraltor 2/247 Japan 64 Player Server, full. All I did was just whore the hell out of APMs...some RDX too! People kept running to the same place and getting blown up all over again... I swear 2/3rds of my kills was just from one guy alone! Only use my lambert like 3 times... Highest scorer on my team too...too bad we lost the round...but thats okay...:D

I find that's the main problem with the badge system- it is very rare that I can really contribute properly to my team while actively pursuing a gold or silver badge.
On a round where I can get 20 explosive or knife or whatever kills I could usually get 30 by just playing normally.

Yep, I got my gold too using these methods too, all good advice.

If you're short of targets go out hunting for enemy vehicles in a fav and see if you can motion mine / RDX them. Above all, you have to be super-agressive, don't stop for a minute. This is one heck of a satisfying badge to get to keep at it.

When you have the Apt options for Titan Defense Gold GO for Explosive gold, Cause when you go for that chances are you are gunna get it.

Also, Instead of running around RDX'ing when the titan Shields are up, Go for engy and run around with Motion Mines seeing as how they count for it.

I got my gold on titan - sidi. I just went recon and put apm's around silos, and rdx'd every chance I got. Like one enemy was in a AA gun, rdx on top = boom. Sniper on a roof? boom.

One tip I will give, because I see people making this mistake CONSTANTLY is to put just ONE rdx in a titan corridor or vent at a time. I dont know how many times I've see people put all 5 down, there is no reason to do that. They don' get deader the more you use. Just remember to move around a bit, unless you get those guys that keep coming down the same vent to get blown up, which does happen sometimes. They get so mad they go rain man trying to kill you. I love that. :)

I got the bronze and the silver one in 1 round, on my first try. i never really knew i got the requirements, because im not really a explosive user, but we where defending the titan and only node 4 needed to be destroyed by the enemy. i trew down alot of apm's and also put 1 RDX at the opening and just pressed the button when i saw movement. covered by the numerous support ppl wo resupplied me the bronze badge popped up and soon after the silver one.

its not really a fun way or a skilled way, but hey it works :D
