I found one way to have fun with motion mines. I had podded up to the top of the enemy titan and decided to lay out my mines on top of their hangar where their ships flay out of. I got quite a few kills last night that way. I thougt it was fun. I can just imagine the look on the players faces as they blow up as soon as they leave the hanger.
So what other ways is there to have fun with motion mines that i havent discovered yet.

Very good, 4 months old "trick". And you can do it only on one titan, not the other, so basically on a clanmatch you'll have an agreement not to use it because it counts as an exploit.

I consider it an valid tactic, you can call it whatever you want.

Leave them at spawn points if you're on a server where the enemy likes to come and steal your assets?

It's legitimate, but as i said.. On a clanmatch it can't be used or you get your *** whooped.
And i don't care about what you do on public servers if it does not include non bf software help (aka hooks, hacks, etc)

It's a fair tactic just like base raping in order to destroy commander assets in my opinion, but it doesn't always work. Sometimes I can fly through the mines without being blewn up.

It would be a fair tactic if you could do it with both titans. But apparently you can't. So thus...it isn't really fair, now is it?
Anyhoo...fun with motion mines...hmm...
Well...it's always amusing to me to stick a single motion mine right in front of a silo, and then stick two in some bushes away from the silo, and then two more in a different place. When an APC or tank comes bustling up, their alarms go off, but they only see one motion mine in front of them, so they continue forward...and then two more smack them from behind...heh heh heh.
And it's fun to throw out motion mines and then the bait. Watch em swirl round and round. Good fun. Helps with the boredom if you're defending a flag or silo and no one is attacking.

You can get your buddy to play support and fly the transport over the titans so you can drop the testicles of doom over the shields that way.

wow this trick is old.

Pretty noobish question then but why can you do this 'tactic' on just 1 of the 2 titans?

Beacuse you can only get on one of the titans when the shields are up, unfair advantage imo but its good for getting an early start on the titan assault gold :D

When the shields are down you can do it to either, but when they are up you can only do it to one because the shields completely cover 1 titan where as the other one has areas at the top not covered by the shield so you can still jump up there.
Although if you pod up arn't you stuck there not being able to get down again without the shields killing you? So someone can just pod up there and kill you and defuse the mines.

Old news to many but new news to some. Like myself. I remember hearing bout it somewhere but never really tried it untill last night.

The original poster never said whether the shields were up or down. Are you assuming they were up and that they were exploiting the hole in the shield on one titan so that you can pod to the cylinders on the very top(sometimes called smoke stacks)? If so, I agree that it is not fair. But if the shields were down and you can drop MM's the hanger shield of only one titan and can only pod up to the stacks before the shields go down on only the *other* titan, an argument could be made that this asymmetry was done on purpose and it is fair. I know, it's a minor point...

I like this one - you bait them with a single and kill 'em with the two you hid.

I have been putting MMs on the titan shields for a while and it is good for a few kills but not foolproof if the pilot knows what he is doing. It is more fun to hide your motion mines near a silo so the tank driver cannot see them until it is too late. I hate when people spam MMs around a silo since only an idiot will drive into a pile of them.
Instead of putting MMs near a silo, find a frequently travelled route like the bridge on Suez and carefully place mines to get some kills. Hang around to kill the engineer that jumps out to defuse them...

Sometimes visible MMs can be a good way of stopping a tank going somewhere. Channel him elsewhere to where you want him to be. Like into a pile of hidden MMs !
edit: Oh... someone already said this :)

I hate those little motion mines. You've gotten me so paranoid that when I fly I never land and when I drive it's with an FAV only so I can out run them :wall:
EDIT: I witnessed the most 1337 kill once, I was in a transport as a gunner and a passenger was an engy. An enemy transport flew underneath us and he dropped an MM on it for the kill!

I think the MM's are neat.
Not as useless as the BF2 Engineer mines.
Not as irritating as the APMs- you always get a warning to try and take evasive action, get out of your vehicle or whatever and they require some creativity to place.
I get a weird thrill out of driving into an area, hearing that beep beep and seeing three or four MMs rise up like tripods in War of the Worlds and think "Well I guess MY goose is cooked"
BOOM!
Somehow that is better than being APMed.

This is very old though mate! it's not even that good, it's easily avoided

Since we are digging up old tips, if you are careful you can walk from the top of the Titan to the front of the hangar and drop your MM there.
Disadvantages:
No way back up, so you will have to jump.
If you touch the shield you are gone.

'Fair' or not, it's a sucky cheap 'tactic' just like base-raping.

Base raping usually prevents people from playing the game because they cant leave their base and are killed as soon as they spawn.
Surely mining the hangar is annoying, but I don't think it compares to base raping.
Is this much different form placing a few MM behind a freshly spawned Tank?

I like to imagine the look on the guys face when he sees me fly straight then down and completely avoid his "cleverly" ( ) place motion mines. I saw some motion mines jus bouncing around like rubber balls once my guess is some one placed them on the titan and they fell off; I had been playing for about 12 hrs solid so I might have been seeing things:evil: :D by the way I mine the hangar as soon as shields are down, I then attack the aa turrets with pilum and procced to cargo bay and normally get pwnd after a few kills of my own. I tried putting the mines in the back of my Fav and driving off but it jus blew up and killed me;ive also tried boiling them but i think Ill stick with eggs in the future....
