View Full Version : Needed map options

No uncaps, basicly it would turn any uncapable base into a capable one. This would solve so many problems imo.
Pac camping roofs, and being stupid? Go cap them out and end it. Want destroy and then hold those command objectives? Guess what they are no longer in an uncap have at them!
This idea comes from all the stigma and bad gameplay that comes from having uncap's. So many "popular" maps are impossible for the EU to truely win (push the other team right off the map). Namely Gibralter and Berlin... No matter what the EU does or how well they play the best they can do is hold bases. If they do assault the uncap they will likely get kicked/banned and possibly reported to BFROE (zomg the truely evil "police").
Another option should be each team has an uncap. Basicly for those point whores out there that just hate when a map ends so fast due to awesome teamwork/play by one team.
Basicly EU base on Gibralter would become an uncap, the last base on Berlin would become an uncap, etc. This would mean that no matter what there would be a fight down to the last ticket, which is generally speaking pretty fun. Its alot more fun then sitting around waiting for that one last person hiding to get killed and watching your tickets bleed down.
All in all, I just think these ideas would help promote better gameplay depending on the type of server (realism, stat whore, competitive). It would also help remove "lame tactics" such as camping an uncap (you can't camp what doesn't exist :P ) or roof top campers/camping "assaulter".

The idea of having each side with it's own uncap is better. I think I remember BF2 had a map or 2 that were that way, I might be mistaken though. At this point after BF2 and into 2142, the asshat players will always be asshat players. That is why we have the kick and ban options. This reminds me of something though and I'll try to keep the rant nice and short.
One thing I cannot stand is people that sit and whine on the forums about things that they have control over:
"I got kicked for my uber pwnage"
Really? ok...so who gives a rat's fat arse? I certainly don't. Yet you insist on assaulting everyone in the forums with your incessant crying....Why? I guess mommy didn't give you enough hugs as a kid...Run along scooter and find another server to play in.
"Someone nerf the "XXX" weapons or Basecamping is teh ghey!"
Just because you are a total douche with "XXX" weapon is NO reason to start posting and whipping everyone up into a frenzy. The lesson can be learned from the PKM in BF2. It's too powerful, it's not powerful enough, now it's a sniper rifle, on and on and on...Never have I felt the need to b!tchslap so many people in my life than when I was reading those threads. Sickening.
Gameplay is fine, poeple just have to stop being so hypersensitive to things and maybe grow up and learn to play offence as well as defense. If we need anything in 2142 it would be substantive content, (i.e,expansion pack with 7 maps). Booster packs are great and all, affordable, etc. But what is happening is that poeple are not really digging them in thge long run. If poepel are spending hundred of dollars on hardware to play the base game, what the hell difference would a $30 expansion pack make really?
I've said it before and I'll say it again...you can't patch stupid now can you?

Exactly why I vastly prefer Belgrade and Tunis over Camp G, Cerbere, and Berlin.
I'm confused over this quote though:
Basicly for those point whores out there that just hate when a map ends so fast due to awesome teamwork/play by one team.
...

So is frustration when a round ends fast just for point whores, or are long rounds fun for everyone, point whores or not? I don't consider myself a point whore, but a round that ends in 8 minutes flat is zero fun for me, whether I'm on the winning team or the losing team.

Aww man, you already did most of my favorites...you may have forgotten the "Bob baker h4x! He keeps killing me! Ban him! Ban him!" Seriously, people don't think about how things work on the other end, its just "me me me". Actually, there was a scientific study which showed that people were more self-centered nowadays, thanks to overdoing of the old program to boost self-esteem. Unfortunately they overdid it and made everyone feel that their special somehow. I can hack! I'm special! I can glitch/cheat! I'm special! This weapon should be nerfed/buffed because I say so! Oh right, I'm straying from the topic. About your idea, I'm not sure whether I like it, as say on Gibraltar, a good EU assault at the beginning and the game is over. Too easy, too fast.

I like your 2nd idea, making an uncap for both teams. But these maps are called ASSAULT conquest. One team assaults, and the other team defends. The reason these games you describe are so poor in quality is because there is a lack of knowledge of how assault maps work by most of the people that play them. Camping uncaps is fine with me, if my enemy is camping my uncap i'm not concerned about it because it means 1 less person to defend a cap point.
The majority of the players out there don't know that when your EU and defending your last cap point, the very back one is normally the best to defend and you don't have a bleed at all. You and your team can just hold the back base and take down the enemy's tickets one kill at a time. The significance of the last point is VERY key if your on EU, and most people don't know that they can win the game on kills only, not to mention it scores your team a ton of points. I'm gonna stop ranting now, I could go on and on about how many commanders i've had to yell at to stop giving our entire team orders to attack from the last point that would clearly cause our team to loose. Most people think of this game on a small scale, it takes a good commander or squad leader to see the game as a big picture and see how tickets run down and what tactics are going to work and not, depending on the skill of your team vs the skill of the other team, not to mention the way the squads are working together or not....someone stop this rant, I could write a 16 page college essay about this game and how players play it, patters in games and player movement, what to expect, what to do in situations so on and so on....
/rant end

in my opinion there should be no uncap, near every round on uncaps ends by raping the hell out of that uncap base for the remaining 18 minutes... its so boring
if a team lost = lost = new round (should be)
not a team lost then we rape the last base for the remainder of the round

I commented on both types and why they liked long games to help show why people should like it. As in "its not just for the nubs who can't play" or "only for the pros" its something that could potentially benefit everyone.
Revoluti0n, I'm not sure if your little rant about whiners was about me or not but I really didn't complain about much. I mentioned afew gripes I had but the generally content of the post was both constructive and had decent grammar (decent, I'm not some english god or something). While I may not be able to just go and change some maps and be done with it, if you never let your views/ideas be expressed nobody will ever know about them.
Most of all, simply not reading posts with "suggestion" in the title might help aliviate this issue you have with "complaining".

Understood. You mentioned both so it didn't seem clear to me what your opinion was on the subject. As I mentioned, I can't stand the rounds that only last 8 minutes because the PAC can rush every flag while the EU is too spread out to do anything, but it's not for point-whorish reasons. I just like nice long rounds that provides chances for momentum swings and turnarounds.

imho this is a terrible idea. first of all do you play these maps on 64 player because they are meant for 32 and EU has a tough time if there is more than 40 players on the server. secondly, if the EU has 5 flags and the pac has one, it has to be an uncap. if it wasn't, the advantage for the EU would be grossly unfair. play belgrade or tunis if you can't figure out how to play the other maps. it is not unfair it is designed that way for a reason and it makes sense imo. look at karkand it was the same way and it was the most popular map in bf2 and it was more than possible for the MEC to win it just required skill and teamwork.
