View Full Version : Effects Settings Linked To Missile Tracking...

o.O I've always thought it was really strange how well the missiles a lot of the gunship frag videos I saw tracked. They usually had more of an "umph" because the effects settings they were playing on were higher than mine (because mine was on low). However, today I turned up my effects settings and for some reason, my missiles started tracking a lot better. I was killing transports and gunships left and right. Now, I know there really shouldn't be any difference, and it's probably all psychological. However, I've spent more than my share of time in the gunship, and the missiles tracking felt completely different with higher effects settings.
Can anyone think of a reason why this might be more than a psychological phenomenon?

I was going to suggest better FPS might have something to do with it, but then I realised if you increased your settings without upgrading your video card, this would decrease your FPS.

Battlefield 2142 retail patch v1.25
* Improved Gunship missile tracking: The Gunship missiles will now correctly track all other airborne targets. Please note that the missile behavior when fired at ground targets is unchanged
That could explain why you are experiencing better tracking now.

I believe that Talon still better than Doragon because the missiles circle closer to the target giving less chance to make them touch surroundings if they fly closer to ground. PAC air transport are bigger so they will hit them in the circling process more often than a Doragon vs air transport.
It also means that there is less chance that they will explode on the air before hitting unlike Doragon.
As a little bonus: Talon vs Doragon = Talon still wins mostly due better maneuverability and the missiles stay inside the "forcefield" in the circling process after the enemy activated it.

i find my missile tracking has always be suffient to take down transports though i may change it.
Have you been playing on server's with lower pings than you used to? The server decides whether your missles hit the target or not, not your PC.

Nope. Same two Suez servers that I've recently been playing a lot on.
