"You were killed by..." message bugged again?

I know this was present one time way back, but the last two days I've seen it return and happen a worrying amount of times.

Last night on the good old power plant level, then again on Canal, I would quite frequently be getting "You were killed by (playername)" messages appearing out of nowhere on screen. This was noticably odd the first time it happened, as I was actually flying a hoverjet at the time and was quite alive and well while it was there. It registered at the top of the screen as "(playername) <killed> STAK3D" too (it wasn't just one person either). This used to happen once or twice ever a long time ago, but since 1.25 I've been seeing it a lot.

It happened maybe a dozen times overall in the course of about three rounds, sometimes out in the middle of nowhere. Very amusing for the squad, but whether this was a bug that was counting towards the "killer's" scores or not is something I'd like to know...
Anyone else seen this one recently?

coulda been lag mate. Did you have a high ping? or the killer havea high ping? alot of the times when im getting shot Im sure I got safely to cover but 1 sec after I see the your were killed by text!! :( Annoying but thats why I dont play servers with too many high pingers.

Nope. 8Mb connection, very low pings. I was very much alive and well, flying a squadmate around in a hoverjet for minutes, capping silos and well away from any action before and after the messages were appearing. If you've been flying around for a long time, see a "you were killed" message while still alive, and then are still alive several minutes after I'd call that a slight bug.

It happens and I'm more convinced it's a cheat than a bug. Reasoning for this was on a Titan round our team was trying to kick a Commander who wouldn't do anything (no drops, no Titan movement, no spotting). I was trying to rally votes as others. Vote was close for an ouster but just a couple short. Game was lost. Second round started, and as soon as I get into the Titan gun, had 3 "You were killed..." messages (poor babies were upset we were on their Commander throwing games ploy). Looked at the scoreboard, all three got their first kill even before the squads could reach the first silo.

So the kills will show up as a kill for the enemy, but not as a death on your stats (as least in game).

Actually I have experienced getting kills that I most certainly didn't deserve.

I have gotten kills in the Neko while on foot not having planted any MMs and a few other cases. Luckily it hasn't happened the last few weeks, but I have been 'killed' a few times.

Once I noticed that my 'kill' was a result of another guy doing something... I think. I killed a tank that someone else actually killed. I didn't notice if that other guy got points, but I certainly did.

If he didn't get the credit at all I feel bad about it, but I wasn't doing anything to get those kills, and certainly not cheating. So I think there is a messup somewhere, causing this to happen now and then.

Btw, only experienced this after 1.20.
