If I knew that the SC was hand chosen .. that would be one thing. But to have an algorithm decide just means crap like this.

The whole ranking after Brigadier General is messed up and I don't care about it anymore. Most of the people getting higher ranks do get them because of spamming Mechs, RDX, Titan Guns or they play on Knife/Pistol only servers.
People getting higher ranks should get them because of skill, now those with skill of course would have to be handpicked by EA. And anyway, I don't care.

Im a Brig Gen and have never played on a KP server, you are referring to the MINORITY ;)

He probably meant above BG, i.e. 2/3 stars or SC. The number of BGs is pretty high these days due to the low point threshold, especially when compared to BF2 where the General ranks were pretty thin for a long time.

I have been on a KP server. Was on there for about 30 mins and was fun for awhile. It's gets old quick though.

What about infantry servers? I have been playing on these a few times lately and they bring a new style of gameplay. No mechs, commanders etc - just troops.

How do people feel about those?

Can't say I care overmuch about who's holding the SC riding crop myself. I guess I get a moment of fun seeing a new name announced and give a private nod of congrats to them, but after that... I can't name a single SC we've had except the first guy (noobish noob, I think?), and that's only 'cause he's the first, so he's the easiest to remember, kind of like George Washington being the first president.

As for K&P servers... I've been on a few. Pure accidents, and I never realize they were K&P servers until I get kicked or something for playing normally LOL. It's always funny because I think to myself "damn, I'm cleaning up on this server" and then when I get kicked and take a closer look at the server name and see it's K&P, I'm like "Well no wonder I was whipping everybody's *** with my Baur...."

I'm sure I will get flamed, but knife servers aren't all evil. You guys don't like people who go in for the only purpose of stat padding, but it is a culture unto itself. I've played quite a bit on them and found the players to be generally better than those on other servers and everyone knows eachother. I haven't played on one in a few months, but knifing is just another form of gameplay and if it weren't for the points people get doing it you guys wouldn't be so angry. I still have my Titan Medallion without playing on knife servers and usually medal in whatever game I am in. Does the fact I liked playing on knife servers in the past just because its fun to shank b*****s make me less of a player? Now I just collect at least one tag everygame to get my fix and I don't plan on playing anymore "knife only", but you guys need to put the torches down and quit worrying. Maybe you would have room to talk if this new SC stole the spot from you unfairly, but like me, most of you have no intention of becoming SC since it involves an insane amount of time and most of us have lives/work that keeps us from reaching it. I understand your gripes, but why spend so much time harping on those who knife or have knifed. Just go play on servers that are geared toward your style. In short, if a player is balanced out and plays all kinds of modes and parts of the game, don't discount them because they have tried the knife server experience.

Ok so I went into one under a throwaway account and found that these guys were really quite stupid. I am an avid knifer on normal servers and found that I was able to take everyone down quite easily, so I decided to turn the K/P into a normal server :D. Once everyone was using guns, I would stand in the middle of the streets in Berlin with my Baur and pick off many heads b4 they even hit me once :laugh:

As for the "everyone knows each other", people on K/P run around having weird fetish orgys with the knife, its no wonder that you would get to know them well :rolleyes:

I been playing on K&P servers lately not for knifing but to screw their game play, its so fun and despite what you say guntoty those guys truly suck, i went first with the clark got a bunch of kills with 2 friend and we made the kick votes fail, then I used the ganz again i mowed everyone out knifing in the orgy they were having, then I took a APC and got a bunch of road kills then it was voss time and I got a lot of kills too. My friend from BF2 told told me they are quite fun. I can imagine them being pretty intensive because just having a knife duel in a normal game is pretty exciting stuff. Granted, they are frowned upon. However, that's not any real reason to diss the people that play on them (sure, they suck at most other things, but what do you expect?). I understand it's against the rules, but that's because of the stats system and has nothing to do with the gameplay.

Also, I've been informed there are no unranked knife servers so it's unfortunate I won't be trying any knife servers out anytime soon. =[

And I'm sure there are BG+ that have gotten their ranks without knife servers. There are many ways to really rack up points even faster than by playing on a knife server (remember that knife servers give you a lot of career points but not global points, you get lots of pins but your in game score is only going to be a tad higher than in a really big Titan game).

Cause I'm a Baurwhore, and I don't get any satisfaction from knife fights, they're just stupid.... both soldiers hopping and diving for a good minute each time before one lucks out, it's not "realistic" and ruins immersion for me. If you come at me with a knife, I'll shoot you. If I come at you with a knife, it's in the back. If i charge straight on, I expect to be filled with lead.

Trivit reset? Now that would be truly anticlimatic for me, it wouldn't help.

As I've reinterated on other posts, there are top players that do it the sporting way. Since i have 2 jobs, I doubt I'll ever get those exalted ranks, but will make BG.

Early in my gaming experience for 2142, someone would rush at me with a knife, so i dropped my weapong and pulled out my knife too. And Died, and Died. Now, I just shoot them.. :)

I admit I was on a K/P server like 3 months ago. It got boring after 20 mins. So i would have my knife out and they came close i pulled out my SAAW and 1 shotted them. That is so satisfying:yay:. I wish SAAW round flew straight ike a pilum when not locked onto aircraft :(. It would make em so much more useful.
