View Full Version : Punkbuster Crashes ?

I have been getting a lot of Punkbuster crashes lately. It will leave a box and you can look at the reason etc. Why is this happening ? Thanks.

I didn't write down the last one. It is software info, sort of like when you get a Microsoft crash...

After scanning the thread above about the Punkbuster problems, it appears the suggested remedies are not working for folks now. I am only having maybe 1 every 90+ mins or so..if it gets worse, I will try one of the suggestions. Thanks.

you can check the file: pbcl.log to see what the reason you were kicked for. its located in the C:\programFiles\ea\bf2142\pb directory. (or where ever your bf2142 is installed)

i was having punkbuster issues last night, 'losing key packets', and just added both punkbuster services to my firewall rules and haven't been booted since.

I just had the "losing key packets" issue. How did you put it in the firewall ? I have Norton. Thanks.

in the program exceptions for your firewall, not exactly sure on norton, but all firewalls have an area to config or allow programs to run without being bothered by the firewall. so where ever you have to add those in your fw program, browse to the bf2142\pb directory and add both PnkBstrA.exe & PnkBstrB.exe as allowed programs. you may need to restart your firewall for the changes to activate. if you haven't already, i would update your pb files if this doesn't do the trick for you.

I know the problem you are having. I get it sometimes, and my girlfriend has been getting it too.

After playing for like afew hours PB will crash down, and says it needs to close itself. So After that I just alt +tab and restart PB from the run services, and that will fix the problem. But if you don't restart PB it will kick you for losing key packets. I have the newest pb, but it does not happen all the time, just like once every few days. I know to turn pb on if it fails so all is good after that. Its just a pain to be playing then have a window pop up while playing.

I run skype while playing, but i don't think that is the issuse.
