View Full Version : Commander question for requested supply drops

I've been playing a lot more as commander lately (starting to enjoy it in fact) and of course, I'm trying to do the best job I can. So I usually provide supply drops before having some requested. There are also occasional requests for supply and I'm more than happy to provide them. However, I was wondering. For drops that I provide without request, I usually zoom in to the max, to make sure I drop it as close as possible to where it is needed. For drops that are requested, I simply right-click the request on the screen and choose "accept". I assume it will land where it's been pointed by the squad leader. Am I correct ?

Just make sure when SLs request crates, to warn them it's coming down. Those things will kill the SL if they don't move.

Why I prefer to not accept their direct requests if their pretty new, and just drop them near them just in case.

I've always wanted to kill an enemy sniper by dropping a crate on them

Hmmmmm....That's not a bad idea when the OS is recharging. Right on three and they'll think that it's a gift from their commander, too.

Nice, doc, nice!

if the drop is not requested by a SL then the crate drop is random in the general area where you clicked. (not a large area, but it does not come down directly ontop of where you click even zoomed in. so actually killing snipers with it is hard.. simply because the crate does not go exacally where you want it to. :-/

It's not random. It just doesn't land where you click.

Yep.

Easiest way to practice is when the scanners are blown. If there's no one around to repair them and the enemy ran to the next flag, practice aiming the crates near a blown scanner to repair them.

And if a engineer comes around to repair the other scanners, ask them to repair any crates that need it (they take damage, but engineers can repair them -- some free points on an otherwise few repair points maps).

I'm pretty sure you don't get points for repairing it. Yes, they are repairable, but not for points.

You sure about that? I've always found it's pretty accurate. It's main use for me is repairing the commander assets so it's got to be dead on.

I think it drifts some meters to the north from the place you put it.

heh i'd start a thread on that soon ^^
anw i found out that it seems to have been changed a little. it drifts up north 100% of the time, but there is a slight variance in the length it drifts. i know because i used to have a piece of paper telling me where to drop the crate to kill a dimwitted enemy commander who lies down in the middle of nowhere =D

I never thought that with such a simple question, I'd start such a long thread :D That's good, as it gave me a few helpful tips to become a better commander still. I enjoy commanding and I want serve the men under me as best as possible :salute:

Unfortunate but if you still have them somewhere, I'd still be interested to see them :)
