Yeah, I've got three of the damn things, all within my first month of playing. BF2142 was/is my first multiplayer FPS experience, other than having played a grand total of like 10 whole rounds of BF2. Feels good to have worked my K/D ratio back up to 1.33 after being so horrible while I was learning the ins and outs.

Got one the first day of the NS expansion.

Lost in Port Bavaria and got slaughtered. Couldn't tell my troops from the enemy and didn't know where I was or where anything else was. Still surpised to see an award pop-up.

i can't stand hiding, i am always out in the heat of battle, putting my neck on the line to revive teammates, rushing corridors etc. and i've never even come close to getting one

There is nothing inherently wrong with the medal itself, it's just the sacrifice's required to get it. I suffer from not being able to let myself be killed enough to earn one. With a normal 17+ kills per round avg, it is hard to die enough to get one.

Yikes.... I have 14 Purple Hearts in 631 hours of play .... I have noticed when I play Assault, and just heal and revive the dead, that no matter how many deaths I have, no PH... thankfully.

A perfect soldier is also one who has never died. However, I don't know of anyone who has ever played BF2142 who has never died, lol. Also, I'm willing to bet that those who don't have purple hearts have those who do to thank many times for their sacrifice to keep the ones who don't have one from getting one. Especially on servers supporting upto 64 players, lol. If everyone was looking out for #1 then I am willing to bet there would be alot more people with purple hearts than there are now.

Like I said before, it isn't a shame to have purple hearts. It just proves that those who do have worked hard under extreme circumstances, and are willing to do whatever is neccessary to try to get the job done. I haven't had many purple hearts, but the ones I do have I got by not sitting on my tail end, lol.Everytime I got one I got by going into the heat of battle, and sacrificing myself for my team, even though I was lagging like crazy, lol. I need a new pc :D. Anyway, take heart, those of you in the ph club. You've earned your purple hearts while many who claims they don't have one has only earned what they do have through the use of hacks. Not all, but many, though. Proud to say i am not in the club. I pretty much play 64 and 48 ppl servers only, so that would increase my chances of getting one cuz death can come from many places. Not even with my 11 death streak i have received a purple heart :)

Yep, that's a good way of racking up deaths indeed. My worst death rounds have come from attacking the titan and being heavily guarded by the enemy. Lots of fun, but not good for the K/D Ratio

That's what happened with my PH. I was letting the son of another clanmember play for the first time ever on my account, and he just kept podding in on their Titan. I found out later he ALSO AFK for about 10 minutes (when he wasn't "punching the clown in the corner"). So unfair!

I'm probably too bad at the game to get a k/d of exactly 0.25. I'm still pretty new to the game and I have my good rounds where I usually end up with an equal K/D ratio and I have my bad rounds (where I got my 15 death streak :() and I'm still not a member. Purple Hearts aren't that bad in real life. As people have said (and it makes you sound much cooler if you have one) purple hearts are given to soldiers who are willing to put themselves on the line to get the job done.

i have only 1 PH im proud to say. got it back in the days of Gunner Silver. what fun times it were, spawning on transports which kept crashing and never getting a hint =D

The only people who don't get this one are people that as soon as the other team starts base raping them, log out. you don't have to do "poorly" to get one of these, as it is perfectly possible for you to be base raped, specially if you are PAC, get perfectly legal 6 kils and 24 deaths; it's not at 20 deaths, it's a 1:4 K/D ratio... you could even theoretically get it at 100 kills and 400 deaths... The really "dangerous" zone is getting your first 5 kills.. once you go over 6 the chances you get one of these are very slim on any map.

at 8 kills you need 32 deaths, at 10 kills you need 40.Once you go past 15 kills it's practically impossible for you to die enough times, even on purpose, to get one of these.

It's also much more difficult to get one purple heart in a populated server, since the chance of you dying is much less as there are more targets to go around.

I've gotten well over 10 I think, my record only shows two of them. I've got no "main" and "alt" soldiers... I try to improve, I have yet to top my best score of 107 a round, I am working toward a 1.1 K/D ratio, I score a little over 1.5 a minute; I rarely command, I Squad lead and Squad up, I don't whore vehicles, I do get the job done.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I do care for the wins, and sometimes you lose, but I work toward the team victory. I am the gunner that stays on the ship til it blows, I spawn on my SL whenever possible, I go get killed so I can respawn as an engineer and repair the assets back in the base, I clear up mines and claymores, I push the charges uphill to go revive a team mate; I chase down mates when they are low on health med hub in hand, even under fire.
And if you keep spawning in the exact same location, when the full 32 player opposing team is heading that way, it's your own goddamn fault.

i know its a 1:4 ratio, but you have to have a minimum of 5 kills right? thus 20 deaths to go along with that.

i never had one, but i'm sure along the way i joined at the end of a round and probably went 1-4 at some point.

I got a couple from those really bad days. Sometimes you just happen to spawn at just the right milisecond before the transport explodes, or lag spikes kill your trigger finger, or somehow the enemy just wont die before your crosshair and you just ALWAYS seem to end up in the worst possible situations. Idiot kamikaze pilots, TKs, tripping over mines when you're just so DAMN sure that there isnt any.

This is not entirely true.
I never logged out, even when my team was rapped from the begining, and the round I remember best was one that after 2 minutes my team was in the last flag of camp g, being raped by two walkers. I stayed under cover, and managed to end the round with a 49-3 k/d ratio.

I never get close to a ph, but it´s just my style of play, I try to be allways under cover, and pick my battles, if I see a lot of guys running to me I try to run faster.

I don´t even remember a round where my k/d ratio in under 1. I am not bragging because if I go 1 on 1 with another player and there isn´t cover around I normally die...my reaction time isn´t what it used to be :).

on bf2 it seemed easier idk y. i never really died that much i feel that i play better in 2 than in 2142

I've gotten close a couple matches...like those matches that no matter what you do, you die. For example spawning on your SL only to get mowed down by a walker or spawning in an APC that has 1 hp left, spawning in a transport only to see that the pilot just bailed out...etc

Anyways I usually get them from ym favorte occupation. Transport driving :).

God people dont know how this help the team especially a whole squad. I am steadily becomeing more skilled at it and now am very easily able to avoid gunships by outflying them in new ways that scare em :). One time i made 2 gunships collide into each other >.>. They yelled at each other for the TKs to lol. I then dropped my luggage into thier main base (Highway Tampa Assualt Lines. God it was havoc after that.

But tangent ^.

Anyways I never cared if i got the Purple Heart this usually tells me I need to do a lil better with my flying nothing more. When I told the people on th server I got a purple heart they said i honestly sucked ( me being brig and all ).

The next round I grabbed a tank completely destroyed thier whole team. Soloed three tanks at once then after I got damaged I stole a tank from them, used that to kill them more, sniped a couple gunships trying to kill me, Knifed thier leading person and capped most of thier bases, and finnaly got the Golden star by at least 40 points with multiple combat effiency pins.

I then commented do you want me to transport drive now? :shakehead:.
Just goes to show you the supposed noob can completely destroy your team he just dont want to :).

Also one could look at my stats and see im not that great anything really. Well I ussually comment that I play how I want to ( which should be the case in any game). Honestly If I wanted to get to the tops at tank whoring I probably could very well do so but just choose not to.

In short I am proud of all 14 of my Purple Hearts.

I've yet to get one. I'm the run-n-gun type. I'll use armor if there's one around. I'll use a gunship if I felt like flying and there's one around. In any case, I'm usually on the go. Yet no matter how bad it gets (even in cases where you just cannot get out of the PAC base on Cerbere Landing), I've yet to get one. Maybe it's because I'm often an Assault/Medic. But who knows. I just don't seem to die a lot to really get one. I don't intend to get one, even after getting as many of the awards as possible. Even when things look grim, I will make it a goal to not fall too much into the hole.
