Twice now I have played on a server which had indicated that FF was off on the initial splash screen. I do not go about intentionally trying to kill my own team but on two occasions it happened. I was punished both times with points being knocked off. Is it possible to kill a team mate with FF off?

Thanks

There are different types of Friendly Fire settings although the server simply states that its on or off.

If you have the friendly fire set to 1% then it will still say its off.

What The_Eliminator meant was that there are a whole bunch of Friendly Fire settings for different things like splash damage, APM's or RDX and standard weapons.

The other thing you need to realize is that FF is not just ON or OFF its on a percent scale. So 0-100%, but when one setting isn't 100% (even 99%) the screen will still say FF Off.

I hope that made sense. :p

The other guys accurately addressed the other parts, but I wanted to mention this. You get points taken off for the TK itself, not for the punish. So you'll lose those points (-1 for Team Damage, -2 for Teamkill, -3 if it registers Damage first, then registers a kill) whether someone Forgives, Punishes, or lets it timeout. Punishes will just add up and let the server kick you if you've been punished for a TK X number of times (I believe it's a server setting).

Thanks guys for all the responses. I think I now understand that it is not just black or white but shades of gray. I am an old BF1942 player where FF off meant just that and you could not kill a team mate by shotting him. You could only cause a TK with a vehicle.

cheers,

Even with FF off, if you hit someone with a vehicle and kill them, they can punish you. Transports are notorious for this.
