Sentry gun placement

Is it ok to put the sentry gun anywhere? I have found some sneaky places but wanted to hear your opinions. Where are your favorite places?

anywhere, yes. but dirty/cheap to place it where you know someone will spawn right in front of.

i prefer in corridors, or areas facing the openings of a wall. sometimes behind a bush.

its fine by me as long as it isnt in a wall or something ok.

i also use pretty much choke points in fall of berlin etc :D

What if you found a place (strictly hypothetical) where it is not inside a wall but it is able to shoot thru the wall, yet it can still be destroyed and seen from the other side of the wall?

IMHO that is sort of cheap, if not sploiting. sorry just my opinion.

I hate when people put them inside of the front wall in the core room. Its dumb, because it can shoot thru them, and still you can't destory them.

My location is accessible, visible and you can still destroy the sentry gun. I was unaware of your description. I have heard of people hiding in crates in the cargo area but I am not doing that either. I think if you can't see the sentry gun nor destroy it, it is a glitch and totally unfair to do that. But if it can be seen and destroyed, I am not sure.

Sounds a lot like on a Titan, pretty much anywhere on it.

I personally like to put mine inside the Console "rooms" in the back corner facing the Console... silly Recons never check there until they've been chewed up by it after placing all their pretty little RDX charges :p

Sentry Guns can be pretty effective when placed at the top of a ladder, that leads to the middle of a roof on Gamp G or Tunis. Place it where the enemy cannot see the Sentry Gun without climbing up all the way (so it shoots him in the back). Some people don't know what's going on and die pretty fast. Hitting space will often be the only way to get out of this alive.

Hiding it on the lower deck of a Titan by the entry doors. That little area that you can jump through when the Tital is detroyed if placed there it is hard to see and chews people up trying to get in the doors.

Placing it anywhere that you know it will shoot through a wall I would consider an exploit/glitch and would get you kicked from our server and many others if it is seen. Use common sense people. The walls were not meant for you to shoot through them. If you are doing it on purpose then you are glitching.

do you get credit for a kill when those things kill someone? My guess is yes, cause i see it listed as the weapon a player used in the combat log. I've been assault pretty much the whole time,though, so not really sure.

I do this all the time, but it is not nearly as effective as it used to be since the nerf of the sentry gun. Sentry guns used to be a force to be reckoned with, now they are so slow to track that they are almost useless.
