This is a short film, made for a battlefield 2142 brazilian competition that begun june/07. I though a good idea to share it with you, as it deals with competition merchandising (even being it from entusiastic sources). The competition uses 2142pro mod, and unfortunatly is not open to foregein ipīs, but the matchs may eventualy get broadcasted. =) Iīm posting it here for entertainment pourposes.

THE INTRO TEXT IS IN PORTUGUESE AND SAYS:
During the second cold war, pac and eu soldiers achieved a simbolic and temporary cease fire.
In the mean time, they created a competition, to improve their skills, and to be prepared for the eventual end of the truce.
The competition was named:
TRIAL FOR HONOR
* Last movie done was NOOBīS DIARY

Nice! Loved the bit at the end with the walker. :D\
Also how'd you get the custom animations like the guy sharpening his knife and putting on his helmet, etc?
(btw, whatever happened to noob's diary 2?)

Was kind of tricky.... first I managed to import 2142 geometry into 3d studio max, then re-applied textures, uvw maps. I re-recreate the skeletons for the characters (to animate then). The rest was cg work as usual: design/animate/render.
Saving Private Noob (noobīs diary 2) was delayed because I couldnīt find a partner to provide a battlerecorder enabled server. Maybe now, that some friends are supporting me with a br enabled server, I can get noobīs 2 back to work. :yay:

I am... stunned! That was amazing. Pretty good work with the helmet and the sharping the knife. Was throwing the supply crate custom animated as well? That was pretty cool. How about the loading after the crate is thrown?
Except in the wrong forum? o.O

The custom animations where great but i didn't really like it. too many slow motion long barrel shots and stuff like that. And the story was a bit silly, would have been better if it was just prese1nted as a war that two sides where fighting. I would have preferred more combat scenes as supposed to preparation and organisation

Make sure to set the BR quality setting to 10 server side. The movie quality will only be as good as the quality setting of your demos. Also, I would suggest you save them to DivX at a very high resolution. By the looks of it, your movies really deserve the highest quality :)

You may be thinking of Dr. Divx.
@junaum, encode your movies with DivX Pro 6.6.1.
Some other advise, have your movies hosted on Stage6.com, it has incredibly good looking streamed movies. You can create your own channel, have your own blog, forum, comments, no limit on upload sizes or time and it's all free. :)

I didn't see the 'Dr.', so I thought you were referring to Divx converter. There are a few different programs :)

Wow. Nicely done. I'm a tough critic, usually... but nicely done!
Be sure to look me up with a PM on this forum if you ever want some English-speaking voice acting for any of your films.
Again - wow.
