In the news ticker, for the longest time since shortly of the official 1.25 patch they mention of an update is in progress, especially with the LMG. Any word on this next update. Nice that EA/Dice gave BF2 a nice beta map. How about give BF2142 community to play with?

Where'd you get the idea of a "few maps"? As far as I can see, the only thing we know is we're getting Highway Tampa...

It was hinted at over on totalbf2. When you install the beta map it's called "mappack 1" or something like that. It can be assumed that map pack means more than one and the 1 maybe means that there will be more that follow.

Well I'm sure it's Highway Tampa, Plus the fix for the LMGs. But that seems to be all the fixes I can think of.

That's exciting. =] A new expansion would still be nice, but map packs are definitely good progress.

I wish they would sneak peak it like they did with NS, by using a Billboard. :)

To quote the BF2 Tampa announcement, "Also keep your eyes to the future as this stretch of desert will see combat across two generations of Battlefield." I'll leave it at that. ;) As for future maps, we hope so too but nothing is confirmed right now.

Ha! The first thing that came to mind was a squaring off with BF2 forces on one side and 2142 forces on the other. I know, I know, that's not in the cards, but man wouldn't that be some fun.
Remember when DICE was toying with the posibilty of having 3 factions fighting at once? Ahh, those were the heady days of optimism and promise...
Anyway I'm looking forward to new content. If DICE and EA had any kind of marketing sense they'd realize that nearly the entire FPS gaming community is waiting with baited breath for the next crop of shooters, and that the nearest one to stand a chance against Battlefield (QW:ET) has been pushed back with no release date in site. More content here would keep more people hooked to the franchise; if there's time and resources to make another booster before the fall then they'd better do it soon.

What do you guys mean "fixing the lmg's"
I don't see anything wrong with them.

They are shaking much more than they did before the newest patch. DICE did claim that they would fix them in a further update sometime.

Or it could mean they're making it for 1942 or Vietnam!

Yay, Highway Tampa for BF:V :yay:
I'll have to break out that moldering disk... where is that pesky thing...
The Chinese have invaded the Arabian peninsula and the occupying American forces must use their new Intel technology to calculate the time and display it on the latest of LED technologies...

lol but i think EA is ignorin 2142 and trying to focus their efforts on the new BF game (i can't remeber the name). but it is sad that bf2 is doing better than 2142 but they are basically the same game with different maps, factions and an exesivly laggy new game mode

I do feel like he just repeated what we already assumed, and what other DICE members have already semi-confirmed. =\
