View Full Version : TV Missile and Assets

This was a rather new discovery for me, but I found out that you can use TV missiles to take out commander assets. I stumbled across this when my team was getting spawn camped by a bunch of vehicles, and while TVing one of them, I accidentally hit our own asset (leading to a Team Vehicle Damage) message.
After seeing this, I tried it on two of the enemy assets, and it appears that two TV missiles will take out a single asset. While this may not be the best use for the TV missiles, a gunship can easily take out 3 of the enemy assets in one run, which is quite worthwhile during those lulls.

Yep, two TVs take out the commanders assets. I discovered this on the demo - people thought I was hacking when they found out their UAV and Scan trailers where destroyed.

Yeh I alread found this out when I was practicing with the tv missile. I hit a asset and the hit indicator came up. Tried it again a second time and I destroyed it.

Looks like I'm the last one to know. And this after 600 hours ingame and more than 100 hours with the gunship. =P I'm really behind the times.

ooh new info for a guy whos trying to be a gunner =D
kinda wasted tho. gunships are AA magnets and you need 2 people to kill off assets. a recon could easily do that.

hehe... we all discover things after hundreds of hours in the game, which we all realize we shoulda known sooner!
i found out the other week that the transport heli's guns can actually zoom in. now, they ACTUALLY can mow down infantry ok... even from up high.
that was a "doh" moment for me.

Oh man... The heliguns are 'teh infantrykiller'... AA guns? Easy as hell to clean out, just need a stable platform.
In any case I actually tried the TV out against the assets some time back. After a few hits on various assets I gave up. I got the hitindicator, but no visual confirmation, so I supposed it was something like 5%. Much like the tanks. I never bothered to hit the same asset twice, it seems I should have.
I remember that the big bomber missiles in BF2 could take out assets in one hit (yup that was a favourite pasttime when the pilot was adamant about attackign the enemy airport).

The Hachimoto takes 3 shots to drop a commander asset if I recall correctly (it's been a while since I've played NS). As another player mentioned, it's a little secret that most people don't realize or use.

The Hachi and Gunship TV missiles should be the same... I know for a fact that it takes two to drop the commander asset (I took out all three).
Does anyone know if they perhaps do different damage?

The Hachi comes with 12 missiles and the gunship comes with 8. So the Hachi missiles are probably smaller and weaker the the gunship ones.

a little off topic. anyone else hate when the hachi tv sometimes looks like its showing the ground yet flying straight ahead? am i the only one this happens to occasionally? it messes up my shots when it happens.

^Bardo, I think that's what happens when the missile gets too close to the ground. It's nearly impossible to kill when it does that. Try pointing the missile higher when that happens and see if it goes back.

Not necessarily. The Hachimoto is "harder" to resupply as in there is no designated resupply pad for it. Thus, the 12 missiles might just be there to counter the fact that the gunship can always quickly fly back to the helipad whereas the Hachimoto may need to find a supply crate or a support player.
