We all know that recording with Fraps on a slow computer equals a slideshow, but what about using it just to benchmark and show the FPS? Is there a big performance hit if you just keep it on but not recording?

Yes, Unless your computer can handle more and more programs in the background.
Try the ingame FPS thing.
renderer.drawfps 1

I know about the ingame FPS command, but Fraps has benchmarking and can tell you min/max/average fps in a text file, instead of having to look up there every second.

Ah, that might slow things down. As it has to record the FPS, put into text document etc, while you play. But I have no idea, depends once again on your computer.

Thats cool.
I'll try on mine later, to see if computer specifications make any difference (significant ones).
