I am so looking forward to Kit saves...
I thought this was part was interesting... listed among the fixes was this:
"Further fix to prevent "pod surfing". Note that some pod movement will still be possible and is an intended gameplay mechanic to allow the player to have some small choice of landing site and to access rooftops"
Maybe this will spell the end of the rooftop camping debates!

- Smoke from the CM3-N Radar Grenade deploys more quickly. The Radar range has been slightly increased and endures for the duration of the smoke effect.
- The CM3-N Radar Grenade may now be resupplied.
- The screening effectiveness of all smoke grenades has been significantly improved.
- Adjusted Talon heat source position to improve Gunship missile balance.
Now those are serious adjustments :)
I mean, making smoke nades useful and Talon "less powerful"

Seriously though, I am looking forward to seeing what the "new" smoke grenades are like. Some other games (Call of duty 1 comes to mind) have had really well done smoke grenades. And I've found them super useful in a lot of situations.
One situation that an effective smoke screen would come in handy would be attaking the Titan core... Not the side corridors though, I think. That is and always will be the domain of the nade spammer...
But being able to lay down a thick smoke screen before an assault on a heavily defended position would be nice...

At least there will now be more people playing at a time now instead of the conga line of 10 people all waiting for the gunship to spawn that you sometimes see...
I wonder if this will be a server setting (i.e. the admin can decide only one gunship at a time per side) or hard coded?
I can just hear the wail of protest from some of the more, *ahem* zealous gunship whoring clans out there if it turns out that they can't turn off the second gunship spawning in their clan servers...

zomg no more resupply for squad leaders drones and oh yea smoke nades i think they shud use mine like they are like huge and if its in a dark map you will see a black smoke :D

I have not seen any change for the little problem:
"You have lost connection with the server"
Hope they have correct it... I'm not able to finish 2/3 of the rounds with it. And I like the adjustments of patch 1.4.

Looks like some good changes/fixes.
Little sad about the lack of love for the Accipiter, though. I completely understand it must be a horror to balance well, but it needs something to make it worth taking for it's own sake. Right now I'll only use it on small maps and have my guys slap scanners onto it, and even at that, 9 times out of 10 I still forget to do it because I'm so used to not bothering with it.

eh, it'll give people a reason to use a SAAW, make the players less territorial over the gunship, and give the air crews a potential wingman (something that was definitely missing in titan mode). If air power gets a little more attention, that's probably not a bad thing in 2142.

Yeah I often find that although if not dealt with the Gunships can be a major problem, that if you have at least one guy with a SAAW in his hands you can scare off the Gunship with ease after shooting your two shots off at em. This will mean that Titan mode will have alot more going on in the air, and ground pounders will just have to deal with it.
It was always a sad thing when you ran to jump into the Gunship with your buddie and somebody else got their first. Now you can both wait for another one to spawn and have some realy fun times with 4 gunships in the air all at once with all the transports that the Titans spawn there will be planty of targets in the air now and Gunships will need to finaly make a choice to attack the aircraft or ground pound some infantry/tankers.

I might become a gunship dude after this patch with 2 gunships per side on Titan maps. The change log sounds really good.
The Conflict 2142 mod buffed the Accipiter and Sentry AI. They are much more lethal than in vanilla. In fact, the Accipiter will kill anyone who kills you more than 60% of the time, so it has been getting cool nicknames like, "the vengence drone" and "instant karma"...

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be like the transports are now- First one leaves, 2nd one spawns right away. Then, once they're both out, one of 'em has to get killed before it can respawn.

Will the 1.4 beta 2 patch allow you to fall back to the 1.25 servers without reverting to a backup install? Yes, I was one of the ones who installed the 1.4 beta 1 and couldn't play on 1.25 servers until I did a complete reinstall.

Only EA beta servers. No "customer" servers yet. That's why it's a beta- limited release.

I wish they had indicated that on the download page. Now all our clan members have to uninstall and install the game again so they can play on our servers. If the beta is more stable than 1.25 you would think they would allow hosts to run it.

EA doesn't want to give us servers on the west coast in America, they wanna make all the Brits feel like there better then us Yankees. Especially after we whooped 'em and kicked them outta their own colonies and then later came and rescued 'em from the Krauts.

Can't say yet. DL'ing FirstStrike mod now, then patch later or tomorrow. But, based on the first beta, I'd guess there will always be a decent pinging server for you, but it may not always be a populated one...

Mate, I know this was a poor attempt at humour but leave it out, if you can't get your basic historic facts right then what you say can't be taken as anything other than arrogance.

Also the Brit you insulted was obviously not English, Scottish maybe? They seem to take it worse than the Welsh. TBH these days the majority of Brits see themselves as either English, Scottish or Welsh first, British second and European only in the sense that we're on the same continent.

It is in fact still shooting. It's a difficult issue to resolve but it's something we're continuing to look into.

alright. well just played a few rounds and must say that so far it looks good.
1. clark rof buff = awesome
2. Beacon pod surfing was notably nerfed but, but still is possible to move short distances. No more flying across the map.. woot
3. The apc/titan pod surf glitch was not addressed and needs to be fixed. Fixing one type of pod surf but not the other.:confused::confused::confused: (This seems like an easy fix) Without going into to much detail dice needs to make it so the mouse axis is not a valid bind for some functions. (Dice you can pm me if you want to know what i mean)
4. The extra gunship is probably the best part ( if you like to fly) This led to tons of air traffic. This is how it should have always been.:):) Although I did not play a long time, it seemed like the gunships were alot more balanced.
6. No crashes yet.

I know this was your own attempt at humour but I'll knock you in to place all the same
First and foremost: Noone cares.
Second: Us 'Brits' won most of the battles and skirmishes and you had to get the French/Spanish/Dutch to basically win it for you. Thats lame, real lame. We still utterly owned you when you tried to invade Canada with an army 4x the size of ours.
Third: Without Britain, there would have been no D-Day which means no democracy in Europe... simply communism or facism depending on how you want to debate it. I know the Americans are proficient at stealing credit for British accomplishments (*Cough*U571*Cough*) but your comment just don't go anywhere mate.
So back to history class where you aren't being taught by Captain America.

Did we not read any further? My history teacher would of been Red Skull. Atleast Captain America is original...Captain Britain is just a cheap knock off.
I love the new Clark rate of fire, fun on infantry maps, but the RDX version still needs the accuracy tweaks, I find it shooting off at weird angles.
