View Full Version : Anyone else got GLOBAL PB GUID BAN after installing 1.40b2 ?

Maybe I am one of the unlucky few that got globally owned by PB after installing 1.40 beta 2

After a long night of frustration by seeking help at different forums: from official EA US/UK forums and support center to evenbalance.com.....I just decided to clean sweep uninstall (http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=14051) then reinstall by these steps: Vanilla, 1.25 patch, NS booster, 1.25 patch, PB update.

Now is working again without problems!!! :yay:

BTW, that was a PB bug (http://www.punksbusted.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33901&hl=8a02f1f0).

Now back to ET:QW...

Just warning + fix about a potential 1.40b2 problem and how to fix it because you get GLOBALLY BANNED from every single PB enabled server.

The steps provided by EACS and evenbalance did not worked for me.

Known issue w/ 2142.

A hacker got a bug that caused him to have a duplicate GUID (the game bug that you have now). He was PB GUID banned. Now anyone who happens to get the duplicate GUID bug is also banned. The 8 digits that are showing in that message are part of the duplicate GUID that got banned so I'm certain it's not an actual ban.

There is a fix on the EA support site for 2142 (support.ea.com then pick PC, 2142, etc). You should be able to find it. The fix is probably also posted here.

Of course I do but a Punkbuster ban is just poor.

Reminds me of CNC3 patch a few months back that got released then pulled straight away. EA again.

lol, this PB ban issue has been around since the game's release. It's nothing new and it can happen during a patch or reinstall to anyone. I've seen it once or twice myself from patches and reinstalls.

Wow even though that was incredibly corny, that still made me chuckle.
