just seen the crysis beta and i must say its dissapointing... the gfx are awsome the physics is good but there is no teamwork... its like bf2142 but everyone being a lone wolf. and if your enemy is moving when your shooting at him.. forget it you have as much chance of killing him as you do a titan gunner lol.. I was thinking of moving onto this game but not now.. lets see what cod4 brings..

theres allot of team work in the game
besides its just a beta. cant judge how people are playing it now. most of them are probably messing around being how its a free beta

On old beta you would see some sort of teamwork, but now that is open all the new people are just messing around figuring their way thats why you don't see much team work, I have had awesome games with randoms, also when will people will realize that its a BETA not a demo you smart people its not how the game will be, god they should have a disclaimer on every beta sign up repeating over and over thats its a beta not demo. They should make a device that goes out of your computer and stamp that on your forehead.

I agree there's not a lot of team work, but give people a break.
I'm still trying to figure out how everything works without a manual and people in-game are calling me a "n00b"! No duh, the game isn't even out yet! So, yes I'm a n00b and I'm not proficient at anything yet. So, when the same dude keeps pwning me over and over again, I calmly ask, "Are you done yet? I'm just trying to get over to the vehicle to check it out and this is getting really old."
Give folks the opportunity to try things out.
I'll definately be buying Crysis. I believe that it has the potential to be the next best platform for mods... That is always attractive because you get so much play for your money. What I'm probably not buying is ETQW. I just didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

Agreed this is probably the biggest dissapointment this year. I base this on hearing from everyone(including myself:))"Man, i really wantedto like this game but its just not there" or something along the lines of that.

Find that both 2142 and Quake Wars rest firmly on the "Average at best" category.
I do understand that this is only a beta.. but if we are to go on past experiences of betas for other games.. not that much changes from the beta to the demo then to the game... if they incorporated a squad system and also gave spawn points names so your not saying to your buddies im spawning at the flag below the squiggly icon on the far left it would be a lot better, if you try to play as a squad and your attacking a position and get killed you have to spawn at the nearest flag which could be quite a distance away and by the time you get back to that position your buddies where attacking, they have already taken it and moved on.. so its a continual game of catchup on your buddies.. no teamwork... Yes it is a change.. yes i will be buying it.. yes i will play it.. but no I will not go over to it fully. I think if you like QW:ET (Another dissapointment) you will like this... ho and also if your a bunny hopper you will be in your element with crysis..

to base your opinion of the final game on a few hours in a beta that has just come out where only a handfull of people probably know what their doing is a bit off tbh.
just a few hours of play you can still get the feel about a game, anyway i was stating what was in the game... anyone can voice their opinion on a game in a few minutes and the lack of squadplay is not an opionon its a fact.. if they change it and add squad then it will be a better game. not only that i can only base my opinon on the beta... not the full game

im waiting for cod4 now also as i bought et.qw the other day and have stopped playing it already. biggest waste of £29.99 i ever spent. Infinate sprint, bunnyhop run and gunners....not my cup of tea

Well i was planning on playing crysis mostly on the single player so i can have the graphics on the highest (as the visuals is what this games all about) and cod4 for the online play.
yea i want to play crysis on single platyer as well.. funny how you now can pick up QW:ET for £17.99 shows how much of a flop that was lol

I bought the limited edition, The demo seemed good, how does it transist into people playing together to do objectives, or is it just people running around aimlessly getting shot by clans who have a degree of organisation?

Ouch, £29.99, didn't you play the Demo? I pretty much immediately ruled out any notion of me buying that game within 30 seconds of loading into a map. Hurray for me!

Guys guys guys...
I realise its not everyones cup of tea ET:QW's but heres my story:
I played in both Betas and hated them, i managed to get a little game on the demo and didnt really like it much more.
I bought the game (some may think this is stupid) and i frickin love it. The maps are great and every aspect of the game simply brings back that ET feeling. You have to remeber that ET:QW's and BF series are a completely different style of game altogether.
Its going to have my hooked for a while and even my Baur may get dusty.

Well Crysis' focus isn't teamplay obviously, it's every man for himself. It's just a different game style than BF2142, not making it bad necessarily. I'd still buy Crysis. Played the beta, it has an awesome buy system where you can buy upgrades for your weapons, equipment, vehicles, etc.

The three big things that make me play BF2142:
1) Great teamwork incentives with the NetBat system, the squad leader and commander system. I have yet to see an other FPS game with better teamwork tools.
2) Real persistent characters with persistent ranks, awards and unlocks. Both Crysis and ET:QW have unlocks, but only for one round. The upcoming UT3 won't have any at all.
3) Fun vehicles with easy controls (the core feature of the whole Battlefield series)
The next game in line that may be better or equal regarding these three features is CoD4.

I didn't get to read the whole thread, but I noticed the opposite--- crysis requires a LOT of teamwork compared to 2142.. what it lacks is better methods of team communication that 2142 has
I agree. Power struggle is a lot more complicated than just capturing certain areas.
U cant match BF 2142 and Crysis, Crysis is a nextgen shooter OMG, BF2142 is +1 year old!
And Crytek has a (i think) free hand about the game, not like DICE when they F***ED UP the whole game...

Crysis has a lot going for it. I hope that it does not require as much teamwork as QW though. Unless you have friends working with you, its hard getting some support with GQ Public.
I will wait for demos and see then.

As you probably don't know, the beta was open for all of 10 seconds. I was told it was open, immediately went to get a key and I was already too slow. I did manage to download the file thinking they might release more keys later though. I also check FP daily to see if the Crysis beta or the FFoW beta have been opened up. After they generated some hype it went back to being closed again and it is still closed as of this writing.

Weird, I got sent a Crysis Beta invitation last week, I don't remember applying for it and definately would not pay for it. I've got it installed but have yet to try it as TF2, First Strike and Project Reality are already taking a heavy toll on my free time.
Haven't put any time into ET:QW as I'm not a Quaker. But I loved CoD1 multiplayer and one has high hopes for the forth iteration.
Oh and by the way the tag for games to be Battlefield killers is nothing but a cliche.
The only true 'Battlefield killer' is time which marches on and kills all games eventually.

This has VERY little to do with how old the game technology is. The battlefield game series is a major success because of fun gameplay, not because of eye candy graphics and fancy effects. Hell, BF2142 looks like utter CRAP, yet I still prefer to play it rather than one of those games with advanced graphics engines but crappy gameplay.

I agree with Fish, i heard the beta was open days before i actually applied, i was literally strolling through the internet when i thought maybe i will try it out. I still managed to get in maybe 2 or 3 days after the official release.

I mean it looks great, there's ground and air vehicles. Mutiple classes and teamwork sound good. I guess I don't like the objective system.

I like the objectives, gives you a point to the battle, i just hate the feeling of QW, it just doesnt feel as good as 2142, the vehicles feel too light, the guns feel terrible etc.
I think Crysis could be amazing, but it doesnt have the reliance on kits that makes 2142 good in terms of teamwork. If they incorporated a Voip system of some kind, or squads, then it would be good, but without medics it migth be redundant.

Here is a more appropriate answer... it's not the objective system, it's the lack of a squad system. It seems like there are a lot of people just running around and shooting. Some are on their 'missions' others are just running around trying to shoot anything. I can't seem to do either very well and it is frustrating. I've been betrayed by my own noobiness...
I find it difficult to get others to work together towards the common goal. I think that this game can really shine in a Campaign-based warfare environment, but I'm more frustrated than not when trying to pub this game.
I think I'm going to pass on this one for now and keep playing Team Fortress 2. COD4 and Crysis are releasing soon with F:FoW, Gears of War, Left4Dead to follow. Good times on the way...

I wasn't saying 2142 is horrible, just not as fun to play as ET:QW. 2142 has always had a really buggy feel that I had to play through, but ET:QW felt great out of the box. It can be frustrating at times. There are still a lot of people out there who don't understand the concept of teamwork.

That demo lasted me about 5 minutes. They should really release a multiplayer demo because if its just the SP that is the highlight (which will last only about 5 or 6 hours) then I'll be torrenting, simple as.

I am not a member of the beta so im not under any restriction from the NDA but I have played it and its the worst FPS out of the lot of them.. the men run around all stooped over looking like gorillas... this one i will be staying away from...

Im gonna check out Cod4 and the Mp part of it for sure. And if i like it a lot, i have a feelin that my bf2142 time is gonna be cut down a lot.
I just don't feel the same way anymore when i play this game. Titan laggs too much, no good NS servers(with players), actually there isn't any servers runnin the good maps, they all have 24/7 Camp G, or they are in USA or whatever and they lagg too much, EMP's rain all-over conquest.
Hopefully they are gonna get rid of those EMP points when(if) the next patch comes out. Then maybe i'll get "the feel" back...
