I was just wondering what you guys think of the new 8800GT. I heard that it beats the old 320 & 640mb 8800gts and is only at the $250 price range. The only problem with this card (from what I read) is that at idle it is 60 C and under stress it is 80 C. But that was said before the official release.
Is this worth it for Crysis or should I wait for the new GTS. I personally don't wanna spend more than 300 at a card.

May be an improvement, and although the 9 series isn't due until next year, unless you have money to burn theres no point upgrading :P.
Doesn't seem like a bad price though.

Well the tests did show that it is faster than the old GTS, but what really stands out for me is the price. It should be a good upgrade from my 7600 :) Also, I heard that later on they will be releasing the 256 version, but I'm not interested in that though.
I think its cool, but i will still go for the GTX cause its more powerful than the GT in some situations (and i want the 768 grafix. RAM)

Well, for me to get the GTX I have to upgrade my case, my motherboard, my powersupply and my cpu. With the GT, nothing :)

Well the 8900gtx or what ever with oncard sound is due to be released maybe around Jan if not later or earlier I would say wait for the release of that card and price of the 8800GTX will drop if not go for the 8800GT but make sure you get some new cooling

I'm gonna wait until the end of November to see what happens. The new GTS is set to release by then (I think) so the price of the GT should drop. I really want a new card by the end of the year to enjoy Crysis over the winter break :D. And about the cooling, I'm not too worried about it since my case fan is blowing right at my card. Hopefully that's a good thing :)

Yeah that should help a bit but if that fails you could always grab a slot fan they don't cost to much and just place it near you GFX card that should help.
I will wait till the end of the year and than im gonna buy it if it doesent get cheaper before xmas...

just to let yall know tey tested the 8800 GT vs 8800 GTX it was 3-5 % less performance then the GTX and in SLI mode the GT KICKED SOME ***, it also uses less power consumtion wich is better and makes it realitively less hot, idle about 45 and strained to max at 65 C

I might just get a slot fan if it overheats :)
And the performance is amazing :D in the Gamespot review. Click here (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6181908/index.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=multimodule&tag=multimodule;picks;title;3) to see it.
Also, the new evga overclocked ones are a little expensive, but if you want it overclocked, here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130302) it is.
Nvidia was offering us only small bites around the perimeter of the GeForce 8 shortbread cookie, when what we really wanted was the dollop of strawberry jam sitting in the middle. If you imagine the most delicious jam in the world--made from ambrosia, beautiful strawberries, and hand-stirred by Oompa-Loompas--it would probably taste like a GeForce 8800 GT. lol

Wow the card has been sold out twice now and the price on newegg went up instead of going down. The cheapest place to get it now from is eVGA's site, but even there it's sold out. I never saw this happen before.
