I changed the color of my name. Heres how to do it.

Just stubbled upon something interesting. Someone on my clan created a login name like this *ND*|CypherCry117 which you can see above his head in the photo but as you can see in the text to the left his name is *ND*rCry117 with the rcry117 part being in Orange. So I figured the part of his login missing was making the rest of the text change color so I made *NoD*||CypheOrange which you can see in the text to the left. Kinda cool mod for your name...this also shows up when you hit Tab during the game. So typing "|Cyphe" (without the quotes) before your name when you create a login will change it to Orange. Hopefully someone will figure out other colors. -Barney

Pretty cool. I did this with a bunch of people on America's Army once. It was before anyone else figured out how to add color, not to your names, but you could make binds to say messages. We had people freaking out.

Then more people found how do to it, and everyone got pissed, so we stopped. Kinda sucked since my when my clanmate showed me, it was the first time I had ever seen it, everyone thought it was impossible. Then everyone did it. I guess I had my few days of glory.

Neat but my clan Tag has the "|" (Xret|Dr.D) and I only but one bar. It didnt disapear and it didnt make my name orange..

EDIT: Now that I think about it, if someone figures out blue/yellow/red/etc.,
this could potentially be used to be an ******* in games by confusing other players. If a mod sees this and agrees, please delete the rest of my post.

Okay guys, who wants some colored names?

I noticed this a while ago, but forgot about it, then the original poster came across it by accident, so I went back and looked at it again in some local games.

If you look in the console after being accepted as commander, you'll notice that the page up/down prompt is cluttered with random text in the console. That's what makes the orange color in the prompt.

So just put this in front of text for orange. I don't know if there are other colors. I think I've seen blue in prompts before, but I could just be crazy. No idea if EA will start banning for this, either.

EA really needs to sort out their colours.

Both Commanders should not be yellow when using 'say to all'.

Admin messages shouldn't be green, to many other messages are green.

all DICE need to do is "refresh" the current colour after the name has been printed, making the : and the rest of the text the correct colour, according to message status (commander, to all, to team etc etc)

It's the pipes "||" youre using... It happened to us also but deleted the "|CoB|" and first letter of name.

Shame that clans have to change their tags for this game...

EDIT: nvm,, hey if your concened about commander confusion type the code in halfway so it only shows orange for half your name

Guys i tryed that thing and later i didnt want to use that account where |Cyphe word is in the middle (it affects ranking too). I logged after that into my old account WITHOUT that |Cyphe thing and now ingame all i can see are last three letters? Half of my name after tag is missing. Both accounts with and without |Cyphe are using different emails. But because name were both same (only 1 account has |Cyphe color code in the middle of it), now my pure name account is messed up!!! And i cant fix it through gamespyid. So be warned not to use it with your similar account name, or u cant use your original name anymore.
Im sad i tryed this, now i have to use different name, because of EA account system u cant delete accounts or edit them.
Ill put pic whats left of my original account name (this account was perfect before). I un/installed game many times nothing, its ea server side.

ead is my name last letters, but first half is missing (i blurred tag myself). In game menu it shows my name correctly as it was, but ingame half are hidden.

Hard as hell to read your own name when highlighted by the scoreboard, so I ended up recreating it.

Ok that means no one can use |C combitantion in hes nick? Oh boy, then why its even there? Makes me wonder are there more these kind of color codes that may mess up nicks!

its a bug, plain and simple. i just tried |C(various numbers) and orange is all i get. i think that the |C stands for commander now not color. now im curious if there is a |Sxxxx to make your name green.

Messing with your name color is a cool trick and all, but if we have everyone running around like that; its just bound to make for a confusing situation. Blue and red tags are there for a reason. Friend vs. Foe identification. Lets not complicat things.

...Besides, EA would probably call anyone who did it HACKERS and ban them. :D

Yikes, you had to dig deep for this one, there are enough other threads about doing this, and it doesn't need to be put out there for more people to do it. Enlarged orange text is very annoying.
