Alright, so here is the deal.
I recently installed the game and then I got to the BattleCommo screen and then the the installation froze.
Now, I completed deleted the game and all of it's files and tried to reinstall, but when I reinstalled, it got to the first installation screen where it has the logo and the small loading window to the bottom right hand corner of the screen. But after that point, it stops.
Now, when I go to Add/Remove programs to remove the 7mb of an install that it put on my pc, it comes up with this error and I do not know how to fix it. I removed the PGUID just for safety purposes and replaced them with "x".
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (469)
pAPP:Battlefield 2(TM) Demo
PVENDOR: DICE
PGUID: xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
$10.50.0.125
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180
Then, this message is followed by a screen that states,
Setup has experienced an error,
Please do the following,
- Close any running programs
- Clear your temporary folder
- Check your internet connection (internet based setups)
Then close the setup and try again.
If someone could please help with this, I'd really appreciate it. I enjoy the Battlefield series and I'd like to continue playing it with Battlefield 2. Thanks.

Just bumping up this thread. I still haven't got this fixed yet. :shakehead

I have been experiencing this same issue, but without the corresponding error messages. It started with an issue mentioned in another thread (inability to connect to any servers without an error message), so I uninstalled the game. Or at least tried to uninstall the game. I couldn't remove it using Add/Delete Programs or the BF 2 uninstall command! I finally manually deleted all BF 2 files from my hard drive. The BF 2 program still remains in my Add/Delete Programs list! And now when I attempt to reinstall the BF 2 demo, it appears to start the installation process with the small BF 2 logo window opening then it closes and stops the reinstall without any error notice. I'm not sure what to do. I defragged my hard drive and cleaned my registry, but nothing seems to work. Please help! I'm worried this situation will harm my ability to play the full BF 2 version when it is released next week!

Here's a link to the fix, generously provided by -[DW]-cLaWz! Pay special attention to the sixth post down where he tells you to how to "Show Hidden Files", otherwise you would be able to see the InstallShield folder you need to delete. I performed this fix and now my BF2 demo works like a charm!

I recently stumbled across this thread in hopes of not starting an additional thread. I have the above mentioned problems on the install. The second disc of the BF2 set seems to not continue where the first left off. When I attempt to remove the installed portion of the game from the control panel I get the same message that "RelaxinFan" has incurred at the control panel removal screen. I would like to see what the link here has to say but the post or thread seems to no longer exist http://forums.totalbf2.com/showthread.php?t=7160 . I bought the game today, 1/28/07 and I had until today been using the demo with no problems at all. I have machine that has no discernable hardware problems other than it is a dell. I have double the recommended hardware required and since the demo was flawlessly smooth I can only hope that it is the actual game. Could someone please shed some additional light on this issue? My email address is smcdowell001@neo.rr.com, I will return here also to check for responses. Thank you all in advance.

Try this guide to manually completely uninstall BF2 and then try again.

|CBW|Simon,
I did as you instructed and the install failed again. I did not include some information last time about my machine so I will do so now. I have included the DxDiag that EA asked for today to see what you might be able to glean out: Kinda Long Sorry! Thank you again for your help! Oh yeah this isn't the whole DxDiag but I figure this should be enough.

If your open to try to eliminate some small variables that may not be the issue, the usual suspects are:
Drivers: Update the vid and the sound card drivers. Use the most recent downloads you can find from the manufacturers website. You are probably using the integrated sound card meaning check the DELL site for updates too.
CD: Make sure the disks are clean.
Virus Detectors: Turn them all off.
Spyware Adware: Scan for it
Defrag: Hey, why not.
I know this may not be much help. Between those paultry suggestions and the link to EA's suggestions on failure to install issues
