Wondering if anyone came across a female voice in the radio.

How come there are so many female Quake and CS players but hardly any in BF series?

Every female I've known to get on comms with a group of men becomes instantly flirted with in a hundred different ways. It's not as if tits and *** are enough but the mere sound of a woman's voice turns us from functional warriors into leg humping dogs.

I play bf2 and am female, and not single before anyone asks. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to start playing too. She claims she sucks, and would rather stick with WoW. I know maybe one other female who plays BF2. I got a few of the husbands from my female DoD clan to start picking up BF2, hopefully, they'll get their own wives onto the game :P The population is growing. Slowly.

But after the last uh......... awkward moments (yes, PLURAL) on the teamspeak night, I try to avoid using the VOIP, except with a squad of friends. It stops the awkward "OMGFEMALE ASL <continue breathless ranting here>" moments or the "OMG, are you @#$^ing TEN?!" moments.

Do 13 year olds who sound like girls count? I can't tell you the number I've times I've had some younger kid just constantly use VOIP and bug the crap out of everyone. Once or twice they've been vote-kicked off.

I've never heard a kid on the VoIP. The closest thing was a 15 year old, but he really wasn't annoying. I guess I'll just count myself as lucky. :)

As for female players, I seem to find lots of female players in games like WoW and other MMORPGS, but I have yet to see a female in Battlefield.

So true! Being a teen (16) myself... I know that I am mature simply due to the fact I recognize I can be immature at times and I know when the appropriate time for immaturity is.

Most 10-14 year olds don't realize that...

"OMGFEMALE ASL <continue breathless ranting here>"

Lmfao! Just the fact that "ASL" was added in there made it even better.

But yea as for the 13 and lower crowd goes, wow I cannot be more annoyed when they spam their mic with senseless garbage. Or sometimes when they get killed they need to leave somekind of comment to show how pist they are after. The one that really bothers me is the instant "omg" or instant "omg dude" It's like you TK them by mistake "omg wtf"

I wish there was a voice filter that would bring the pre-pubescent squealing sounds down out of a dogs aural range to a level more appropriate for verbal communication between humans. When I have a young teen on my squad I hope to dear god they don't get hit because when they get hit, they scream, and when they scream, my ears bleed.

There are tons of chicks on X-Box Live. I met one girl in Sweden who was fluent in live 5 languages and was the COOLEST host. Extremely polite. Plus, she PWNED those Rainbow Six 3 tangos in coop. Single-shots to the head. "There's one tango. There's two," she said.

There was another Latina from New York City that might have been in Ghost Recon 2 (might have also been R6:3). She was sweet.

Both of these girls had AWESOME voices. For the most part, the guys behaved themselves. Once the dork-measuring started, the Latina calmed everybody down.

It's a serious selling-point for consoles. Chicks in-game. Staring at a widescreen T.V. and holding a controller has less of a nerd stigma than playing on a P.C., I guess, plus the price is less prohibitive, so the girls give it a try.

Thank you. I think you've said all that needs to be said. I find most females who play don't make a point of saying they're female and they game, unless they join all female clans. In fact, most try to hide it, and say little, especially over VOIP to avoid harassment. I've been harassed for turning some horny little kids advances, or been harassed for just being female. My experiences with that is not isolated, it happens to almost every female playing an FPS. My whole clan of females can tell you seperate horror stories. Most females figure it's not worth the frustration, and simply choose not to say anything. Just remember that when you wonder why you never hear of females playing guys :)

Most females that play in any BF series are married or a girlfriend to a male clan member. Hardly see any females that dont wear clan tags, most females are jsut playing to chat with people and such. Not really for playing, just to past the time.

That's too bad cuz VOIP is part of the game now, without it you are only playing with 70% of the fun. I hope with the real time pitch shifting built in, creative labs' new XiFi sound card can mask your true voice so the famale gamers can just talk freely over the radio, without afraid of being harrased.

I tell you what, my wife plays World of Warcraft with her guild using Teamspeak. She gets the best loot, most attention, and any of the guys in her guild would run across the world just to give her some bandages. Girls in World of Warcraft are spoiled.

I don't understand what the fasination with female gamers is. I suppose it lies in the same realm as a female trekkie... it's the only contact with a woman they will ever have, so they milk it to death (heh, no pun intended.)

I am female and I play because I love the game, if I wanted to chat I certainly wouldn't do it over the sucky voiceip function of the game. I'm in a clan but am not married or otherwise involved with anyone in the clan. We are all just online friends who love to play games. Seems like so so far drX. Staying on topic now

Slayer, nice to know another female who plays for the sake of playing. I started because my older cousin needed some one to play with, and I was interested. The hobby has stuck for the last 8 some odd years.

Although I will admit, most are married or with boyfriends in a clan. That is the case for my clan of all females. All but about 4 of us are married, and there's about 12 of us. a good 10 I'd say was introduced to gaming by a boyfriend or a husband. The rest of us picked it up on our own. I find girls do tend to gravitate to the MMORPGs and such for the more social oriented enviroment (but by no means do I say they're not hard core about what they do), and do tend to get pampered in the MMO enviroment. But I can say with out blinking, that every girl in my clan are hard core FPSers, and most of them can blow their hubbies out of the water any day.

So, officially, my tally of females I know who play BF2 has been raised to four, which includes myself, 1 of them a recent convert to FPSes from her fiancee. And the revolution continues.

Well I know of 2 other females that are a part of a club we run for another game who like to play FPS's. One is married to a gamer and the other like me is an older single lady who just enjoys the game.

I was raised on Atari & Nintendo so the habit just stuck. Growing up with no sister and 1 brother, plus 2 neighborhood guy friends kinda turned me into a tom boy. I guess the habit of gaming just stuck.

Don't talk that rude about girls in BF2, I know quite some. In the tournaments we had quite a few and they kicked ***. I can remember Candy_S, foxylady, soulrurrender, Moiraine. They earned a lot of respect. And there weren't all teenangers either, the ages varied around 12-30, so quite a big range.

I actually met a girl at a Lan party once. I used to work at a Lan center and there were a few girls who would come in and play. Well one day it was just her and her brother and i showed them CS and they both got hooked. She kept having trouble getting headshots so i got on a Lan with her one day and helped her out. Later that night she invited me to her house and soon after we were goin out. Girls are people, and even if girls playing video games is a really cool thing, you shouldn't treat them any different. It's funny though because she used to play some MMORPG and she would tell me about how people would give her items which could be sold for $15 or $20 in real world money. It was hilarious hearing some of her stories.

Ya, I agree, its mostly the harrassment that the women get from talking, etc.

Heck, with my name, if I post on the server, you know I'm a girl right.

People start asking me ASL, I mean Come on, with a name such as BUDMAN, it would be obvious wouldn't it.

That is why a lot of women & girls for that matter who game do not let people know they are females. Everyone just assumes gamers are males, but there are a lot more females out there then you may think. That is the fun part about the internet, you never really do know who that is sitting at the keyboard. :)

She's not that bad. She can't play nearly as well as I do (but seriously, she's at the movies when I'm playing FPSes. She can ramble on about a million and one (mostly obscure movies) for hours.

I noticed that too =\ Women tend to take leadership roles in clans. Personally, my clan of ladies is like.... a Sunday ladies night out thing. Except instead of going to a spa or what ever, we play two DoD matches back to back. Have fun go home. All of us have have clans we go home to play CAL and anything else huge for us. Out of the whole clan, 5 of us hold leadership/founder positions with our home clans.

Hey, if I was still into this clan thing, I'd love to hold a similar ladies night out situation for bf2 when ever they figure out what they're going to do with themselves...

Indigo, lol. It's true. While I'm on BF2, my girlfriend is spending my WoW gold on the auction house (and my guild wonders why I can't afford an epic mount), and nagging me to play with her on WoW, or "else". Oi!

Slayer. Joy of the internet :) Never know who we're playing. Scary to think who we could be playing.

The females do exist on BF2, if i'm proof of it. Best part is, I play pretty well, much to the dismay of my roomates, who hate being beat by a girl. I don't have a mic yet, but was thinking of getting one. Now i'm a little apprehensive if people are gonna be ick about it, especially since I like playing commander a lot. Do you guys think it's a common problem, or not so much since there's so few of us women-folk.

I'd come across them so I thought it'd be easier than guys get all hung up on me being a lady. Cos I'd never come across women in the game either. It was all very new to me.. Anyone ever come across Harry7 I think his name was. Little spanish kid. Well that wasn't me lol! But MAN he annoyed the heck outa me... Sorry, off topic slightly.. Anyway, even though I was pretending to be a boy, my first clan picked up on the fact I wasn't and they invited me. They already had a lady in their clan too. :)

I'm hoping to meet more women players, but tbh it doesn't make all that much difference to me. It's down to the individuals who play.

I just spoke to Tizfia on the |TOP| teamspeak and can vouch for the femininity of her voice. Either that or she is a bloke who was inhaling helium for the entire conversation.

Anyway, I wouldn't have thought that women had enough time to play BF2, what with all the cooking, cleaning and darning socks they have to do.

I have played with quite a few of them in the past, i have found that alot of bf2 girls like to command, and all the female commanders i have had are realy good at commanding. I think its ok to play with girls. Just i hate getting owned by them :)

Dominatrices perhaps.

I'm a gal and I play BF2 and haven't had anyone bugging me about being a girl. But I also have to say that as for the VOIP, I can't seem to get it to work so I haven't been able to talk to anyone. I only play in one server and I know that there is a few guys that know I'm a gal because of the pleasant things they'v called me for not playing up to there expectations.

Someone said that they didn't think woman had the time to play because of cooking, cleaning and what not. First not all the gals have to worry have to worry about that and second, woman are good at multi tasking. We can be on the phone, kicking your butts and fighting w/ kids all at once ;)

lol, I did know one female DoDer who could be whipping up a fresh home made past sauce, pasta, appetizers, WHILE playing DoD and whiping everyone across the floor. We're not sure how she managed not to burn the food, but apparently she moved her PC right beside the kitchen, so during the queue to respawn, she dashed in, stirred everything, blah blah, dashed back and went back playing... That was god-like...

I can barely pay attention to the game to play well w/o dozing off :P
