whenever i have the voip on i would get the "problem with connection" message every so often in the game and it causes me to "lag" up a bit when moving and my ping jumps from 2 digits to 3 digits. after playing with my router settings, adding every single port and even doing a direct connection to my cable modem, i narrowed it down to the voip feature and whenever this option is turned on, i would get the connection problem. right now i am patched up to 1.02 and i am still having the problems with voip. i would really like to take advantage of the voip feature(thats why i have a headset mic) and be able to communicate effectively. is there a fix out there to use the feature. i mean the game runs fine without voip enabled but i would like to use this instead of teamspeak or other 3rd party voice chats.

This is a long shot, but could it be a hardware problem as in your CPU and FSB are not fast enought to process all of the information. Also you are using onboard sound which is not ideal for this game. Many of my friends th have onboard sound have had problems. Onboard soundcards use up CPU power so the combinaion of using onboard sound, slow cpu/FBS, playing BF2 and using VOIP may be too much for it to handle. This may effect your ping as your computer would take longer to process the incoming information and send it out again, thus hightening your ping.

VOIP must use a certain codec, see if you can change the bitrate of the codec. I dont know if it is possible but worth investigating.

How would you change a codec?

i have this problem as well.

But i'm using a hardware sound card. I just never worry about VOIP.

I also get very bad lag once i hold down b to talk. some days it works fine but most of the time it lags bad. i have tried usb and serial port headsets. both have same problem.
