it sort of originated during the civil war. The southerners called the northers Billy Yanks and the northerners called the southerners Johnny Rebs.
Yankee Doodle went to town,

the Brits ;) wrote that song to tease the colonials, personally I dont see anything insulting in it? Maybe Im not interpreting "handy" right, IMHO it means "go get some". :confused:
