Hello everyone, i came here to ask a question, how do you mod BF2?

I have a "team" for say already, and we know exactly what we want to do, but how do we go about doing it? Its going to start simple, we wont need any custom models or anything at first, but id like to know how to edit vehicles and make maps. One example of something we needed to do is make the passenger side of the jeep like hanging on the side of the blackhawk, where you can use your weapons instead of the machinegun. What files do i edit and how do i edit them without changing my game (being unable to play on normal servers)?

I'm not flaming or anything, but your best bet, buddy, is to wait for the BF2Editor to be released. It's going to come with a tutorial, explaining what you want to 'mod'.

To do what you want, NOW, without the ditor, is extremly long-winded and involves a lot of guess work. It really isn't worth your bother. For the moment, that is.

Ok thanks, i just thought there was something already, since other people already started on mods.

The mods that you see on the front page and the like are purely models that have been made in program such as 3DSMax, or GMax. YOu could, if you wanted, begin on models yourself, but when it come to importing, that is where the editor comes in.

That is all they seem to be doing, and able to do, at this moment in time. You can edit basic weapon values, and add things to objects. For example, someone added a J10 engine to a cobra. But as for what you want, like the 'hanging out of the side of a balckhawk or jeep', you'll need the editor. All the mod teams are waiting in great anticipation for the ditor to be released, so that they can import their work, and get on with it asap.
