View Full Version : How to be a good Support guy.
Well, Hello there. I have made up this guide to tell some people how to be a better Support guy and how to use his weapon better and more efficient.
Let's start off with joining a server. When you join a server, find a good squad as always. Then stick with any of your squad memebers, you should stick around Spec Ops, Engineers, or Anti Tank guys since they waste most of they ammo on tanks, by shooting the rockets, C4ing, or laying down mines. So that will give you good teamwork points for giving ammo and more respect for you from other people who you have supplied.
Now to the second point. Learn using your support gun.
If you want to use the gun properly and not whine about it by coming to forums and say that I can't shoot anything. Well my friends you might be shooting too far. The maximum ranges your gun can handle to hit anything is about 50 to 70 meters, beyond that, it's just wasting your chances of survival. The best results you will get if you shoot you targets that are below 50 meters. Which is a pretty decent range for this game.
If you want to hit something, then you must use your Iron Sight, otherwise not using it will lead you do a huge crosshair with bullets hitting who knows where. The only good situation you will find not using the iron sight is in extremely tight battles where the opponent is like 5 meters away from you. If you want to shoot long range, then just take out your lovely pistol, it's a good long range shooter. Don't worry about wasting ammo for it, since you got ammo bags.
Now when you have mastered your weapon. It is now safe to go out and cover and assist your buddies in battle. Just lay down, make sure you have an alternate route to run away if anything goes bad. You will have lot's of luck if your squad is capturing a flag and you ambush the incoming enemies that are running like crazy to save their territoty, once you got good aim on them start pooring it on them. After 2 seconds of shooting you will then see that everyone you saw running is dead. And now you are happy. Your squad cheers you on and you just continue to start kicking more *** and live happy ever after.
Edit: Forgot to add, don't forget to throw some ammo packs in the area where your teammates are fighting because they will eventually take it and you'll get a point and satisfy your teammate.
The End. :D

Good advice, Soda. Finding the effective ranges on the support guns is the key to success. I was very frustrated when I first unlocked the PKM, but once I found where to set-up, it's definitely a squad killer. Also a good point with the pistol. It's amazing how accurate they are at long range. It was very easy to get the basic pistol on my first attempt.

That's a nice little tut.
I've only seen one good support guy in all my playing...He was always there when I needed ammo and dropped bags in the best spots. I basically never ran out of C4 or bullets. That was a fun game...I might try being support now that it's explained why I can't hit anything.. :)
Glad you guys find it helpfull.

Great job, thats usually what I do. None of these support weapons can hit anything at a good distance, I was glad you emphasized that.
Great tut man

I'm mainly Support class as well, and that's a great guide.
STICK with your teammates...and find good encampments to set up to cover basic streets and chokepoints...you aren't meant to move around.
The best thing to do is play like a close range Sniper, or an immobile Spec-Ops...in the fact that you must stay stealthy (find good positions) and let the lead fly at the proper time.
I unlocked the PKM...and with a proper area to hide, and with good attacking distance...bam...you end up with 9 kills in less than five seconds. Of course I had to relocate.

I actually don't use the camping strategy while playing support. Support is my favorite class, but I go around and use cover. Like on an urban map I'll run up to a corner go prone and then crawl out into the street so I can see. Then I shoot anything I see, well not anything, any ememies. I use it a long range and the PKM works pretty well. On urban maps I'll usually have a K/D ratio of like 3:1 atleast. However on spread out maps like Daqing Oilfields or something like that it'll go down to 1:1.

I play alot of Support also, I find that getting into a Gunship or a Transport helo works great, have your pilot swing low around firefights and you will automatically resupply Squads of guys in one shot.
APC's and Tanks work, If I'm not driving the tank, I usually stay ducked untill we hit ground troops.
Key point already covered above: THROW YOUR AMMO BAGS....if you see a sniper, toss him 2 or 3 if he's in a good spot. If you see a spec ops, find a hidden location within 10M of him and drop 2. Assault guys will eat you up, they love endless nades.
If your charging an area, your the guy lay'n cover fire, you got lots of rounds and plenty of fire rate...get lead in the air.
Great thread!

I used this guide and went form a hight round score of 30 to 127. I also went from Private (372) to Lance Corporal in 4 hours. I love this class. Like Munson said, get in a chopper and resupply the guys in there and the squads you fly over and you get mega points.

Yes, the support gun kicks HUGE amounts of *** if you use it right. I've stopped whole attacks with that gun.

Volume of fire is the key to suppressive fire. Especially in urban maps the MG owns if u know how to use it. U can get hits from 200 meters if u want to, but often the guys has a chance to run away since the 5.56mm bullet doenst pack that much punch. But when u see a group of enemies just put some lead in the air, if u get enough hits and they die by someone else nades or whatever u still get kill assist points so dont be shy using that weapon.
If u dont know what kind of bullet spread it has try once to shoot in the water or wall in some map so u see what ur weapons is usefull for.
Ammo bag is ur best mate too. I usually run with one in my hands and throw them into places people often walk and in and around flags and positions where people stick around and shoot like the building in Sharqi peninsula.
Usually I get like 50-70 points (lonewolf) and much more if in a team. Most points are from resupply and kill assists, rest are from kills.

 Inaccurate? Sure the SAW is, but the PKM is not. You jsut have to use the gun a lot and experiment with it to see what fits and what distances it can hit at.( usually 1-90 meters is what i found out ) Anyways if you like Support get the PKM it owns All!!!I take out guys all the time with it in like two shots.

Another tip is if you see a sniper on your team in a good position, get to where he is (without giving him away, and watching out for claymores) and drop a few ammo packs nearby. Then he can stay there for ages and rack up loads of kills without coming down for ammo. You also get a few supply points for this.

Munson
i try not to throw bags close to hidden snipers, simply to be curtous and not give away there postition to an enemy. Ive knifed countless people because i see bags fall out of nowhere and just run behind them and get ready to shank.
