2. Battlefield 2 includes Battlerecorder which records the entire battle (this gives us the 3rd person and freecam)

Why using fraps when u have battlerecorder?
Becuase the Battlerecoreder AVI converter is a waste of time, fraps is the daddy. Fraps is easier and faster.

How to record a demo
If you are like me and want to use the BF2 recorder but cant get the dam things to download from servers then u can create your own demo files from single player games.

1. During single player gameplay, acivate the demo recoder by typing in the console "demo.recorddemo [name of the file here]". Console will then say something like "recording started".

2. Stop the recording by typing in the console "demo.stoprecording".

3. The demo files are created and stored in this path C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Demos

4. To be able to play these back inside BF2 you need to move the files from the above folder to this path C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\demos

5. Playback is funky as fook Everything is controlled by the Q & T roses, but there are quick buttons for all of these features.

6. To remove the HUD for taking screen shots, console command is renderer.drawhud 0 & renderer.drawhud 1.


I have noticed when using this that as soon as you cycle through the players (space bar) the name tags appear above any player around the player you are viewing.

Unfortunatly you cant make your own demo on an internet multiplayer server, you have to play on a server with battlerecorder enabled. If you do find one, chances are the server admin has not configured the server properly and you are unable to download the file :( .

If you are a beginner, just practice on recording single player first till you get the hang of it ;)
