yes it works like if it were BF:v you go enable it in the menu, you have to put the bf:e folder in your mods folder.

If u are referring to the blackhawk... This only should be done if we can simulate location damage. A blackhawk is not going to spin out of control if it starts taking damage to the hull.
We'll look into locational damage on vehicles because I know you can tweak the tail rotor on helicopters. So it might act as a secondary engine.

Could you add the ragdoll collapse to all turrets, like it was in BF42 and BFV? As it is it's hard to tell whether someone in a MG/groundD/AirD/roofMG is dead or not from a distance. The body just stands there.

I've got it on there working no problem, just the rotation is messed up, and I have yet to find where to add the 2nd cupola model. (with the hatch ect. ect.)

Just wanted to stop by and say that the mod is great.
The new weapon values make for realistic firefights. Bunny hopping kiddies will think twice before crossing the road during a firefight now.
But a few bugs I noticed, which im sure you're aware of.
-Grenade Launchers fire through walls (through buildings, even)
-M4 should have an automatic fire as well as single (not 3 round burst)
-Sandbags have metallic texture
-No audio effects when a loud explosion goes off. Just screen blurr
-Certain textures produce dust paths after soldiers walk. It looks very awkward. The dustis almost too dense.
Some feedback:
-Maybe reducing the sprint just a little bit, or increasing the time it takes to regain stamina.
-Snipers should have extremely limited ammo. Four or five magazines, max.
-Reduce the speed of tanks, as well as traverse rates for tank turrets. In real life they turn much slower.
-For tanks and UAV's letting position 2 control the gunner. Position 1 would simply drive.
Also...
Was wondering if you would be capable of making new models for the game. An RPG for MEC instead of the current AT weapon would be alot more ideal.
Also wondering if you could make optional weapon choices. Would be awesome if a Special Forces soldier could choose between an M4 or an M14 (no scope).

Yes we know there are some bugs with the mod, and some major ones you've yet to discover :P, and i'm working to resolve them. I'm thinking of releasing another version very soon, possible tommorrow that resolves most of these issues. For the dust effects, I coded them in haste not really paying attention and testing each effect at a time, because there is hundreds of them :). But i'll look into the foot dust effect. As for the sandbags, it's nothing with the mod it's the way BF makes the shaders, sorry but I can't really do much about it :(. What just came through my mind that same second is copy the shaders that BF2 generated and copy/paste over the new ones the game generated on the first time the mod was run.
You can find the original BF2 shaders in:
/My Documents/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2/cache/5395712-97wqetawge (a bunch of stuff)
and copy paste them into the folder you saw coming into the original.
As for the M4, I was directed by Garrison that the more common M4 is that with single fire, and 3 round burst. I'll look into it more. lol and for the grenade launchers, well i'll have to fix them. But for the meantime you can shoot them through people and kill them, I found that entertaining myself :p.
For the tanks..eh I doubt we'll see a gunner/reloader, because to be frank it's more so a single player mod until the mod tools come out, and as the previous poster said most gunners suck anyways, unless you were in a clan or something where you knew the person. And I don't know if I would trust bots with it.
As for the tank turret rates..have you been in the T90 yet?

I for one wouldnt mind having someone manning the guns for me while im driving. The game gets so crazy at times that a single person doesnt stand a chance on his own.
This is a realism mod, right? Or did my eyes decieve me?

I agree with Shook. I frequent this other BF SP modding board where I first started downloading DJ's mods, which are great. Then I found this and tried frostys, and its really really good too. You guys should team up and start something. Try mixing and matching and whatnot for us unhackers.

I have a suggestion, reduce the M16A2 recoil *-*drasticly*-*.
My mom and dad have both fired an m16 and it has barely *any* recoil... and it should be very accurate...in real life up too 900 metres... but you can scale it down for the game.

Yeah I am aware of some issues, but the aiming down the sight recoil I think is fine, because if you look at it, it really isn't much recoil at all, it's just a little bump upwards, but keep in mind all of the recoil is based off of ADS, (aiming down the sight), not just shooting from the hip. I've already talked to djuice about the recoil and I know I do need to work on it. But please understand it took me a really long time to get the recoil like I want it, so i'll have to redo them all for hip shooting and ads shooting to make it relative.
In other news I think I made the most revolutionary improvement to soldier damage systems in any BF series. As you may know, once you get down to 20 hp you bleed, regardless of where you were hit. Well, i've worked on it and have some news.
Body part specific damage bleeding, which I think I have acheived here in the last few minutes. If you get shot in the limbs (arms, lower leg), you won't bleed to death - You get shot in the gut you'll bleed to death, head is instant. Spine shots will have you bleed to death probably too - Keep in mind this has never been done before.
The results I acheived during my test were interesting, you only seemed to bleed 'sometimes', for the time I had only made the bleeding for the arms/legs, sometimes i'd start bleeding, sometimes I wouldn't. So i'm going to have to look into it a little more, but I was very excited.
How I did this is with the materials, and have added a .tweak armor composition for each material related to the human materials. The game already has seperate damage materials for the legs, spine2/3, and the head. Working with ragdolls I can probably assume the central body is made of spine 1, 2, upper thighs - And the head is well the head, along with the limbs. This would mean a shot in spine 2 would make you bleed to death, because that is the area the gut would be, making spine 3 the lungs/heart, you know, bleed to death there too. Tell me your opinions. Keep in mind im doing most of this for testing purposes and the methods I posted above are not what I intend to do. I'm just doing it now to either get results or not.

as projectiles travel further away, gravity makes the projectiles dip... causing the projectiles to fly in a curved trajectory instead of an exact straight line.

Wow all the sudden lots of people posted. I'm stll trying to pump out another version...And the only thing I can suggest is reinstalling as it may be an issue with the AI? I don't know I had a crash bug after a few minutes of SP in like .02 but I fixed that when I released it, so i'm not sure. If you can't play SP at all I would just reinstall it.
All of the weapons have had gravity modifiers from v.04 - so yes all the bullets have gravity. I'm going to add minimum/maximum effective ranges in .06. Also I figured out the bulletproof stuff thanks to Djuice <3, so for example smg's won't hurt a vodnik...at all.

o i got it now, i had to run the copy levels batch file in the levels folder, and then launch it with the bfe batch file in the main folder

huh, that's the first time i've heard anyone feeling nauseous (sp?). The only thing I changed was the acceleration/decceleration of the players, you can't even change the turning of the player. So far it leads me to believe it's only you - as for the sounds playing slow that must also be you because I have no problems at all on this end, recoil - well it's recoil what do you expect. (btw there isn't that much at all anyways).

btw make sure your sound quality is set at high in game, it's default at medium. And if you're using onboard sound and it sounds bad...then get a soundcard.

some of the things in this mod were great, others were not... i mean, the recoil? sure, some might think its realistic, but i think its just too much... and why is the recoil the same when lying and standing? oh, and i think you broke the BTR, i mean, i could barely drive up a hill with it... and the T-90, it took like a year to turn the turret around... what else... yeah, the new model for the m16 looks too shiny... otherwise it was great...

ya, I didn't quite have the time to read it all, not even knowing if it's mentioned. By the sound of your thread, there is an explination for this? so I'll just take my time, and read...
EDIT: After playing for some time: Too much recoil. this goes for every weapon. As it is now, it's not realistic (yes, believe me). The M249, it can kill now, which is good, but you can't hit anything, not even in 5-10 rpund bursts.

Sorry for being rude. I'll repost the explanation for the shinyness here:
In my rush to release .05, I had made some minor alterations to the m16's, m4. It seems if you save the file as DXT5, it makes it sort of reflective, and i'm actually curious to see what the other DXT formats do to it, it'll be fixed in .06. Right now though i'm having problems with my game, I just reformatted and I can't boot any mods, even .05, which as you know works. So im in a bit of a snag.

the best kit for this mod is sniper, one shot kills even if its a crap shot.
also is it just me or does their ai seem harder?? im gettin killed so much compared to before this mod and not jus cos the guns are stronger.
check this, some how in Daqing oilfields i got a headshot on me while prone on top of the oil rig thing, the guy was a mec with sum ak, i tried to snipe him and he turned round and headshotted me!!!

Well I havn't changed the AI except add more of them, and yes it is because the guns are stronger because you get shot by the AI and don't even know it sometimes in normal game. :P
In other news, my game decided it was a good time not to work again, so I really don't know what to do now, if reformatting won't fix it, then it's ****ed.

What about swapping the ammo of some of the shotguns for slugs? Cross hair would need tweaking too.

That's good. I figured that out. But you would be suprised how kids do not want to installl unless they have instructions. And I'm sure they have been taught to read the readme.txt. And they may not install for fear of screwing up there main BF2. But are you sure that's all you need to do?
Also however there are no maps after you just "extract to mods folder" as you say. It seems there is at least one more step right? Like "Run the batch file called copylevels.bat from "..\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bfe\Levels" directory. so you can play MultiPlayer or Single Player?"
Well all the server showed up as RED meaning you could not play on them.
This is what I had to do. But that is not in your post or your readme.txt.

Well the only thing that's holding us from release is well...the lack of lots of new content, so far it's only fixes, small changes and we're finishing up the sounds, and getting some new skins and stuff. But in the time that we've started we've assembled almost a 'mod team'.
So far we've got:
Frosty - Coder
Garrison - Coder/modeller person who knows stuff
Joe joe - Modeller and dude guy who knows stuff
MikeAP - Sound artist
CXZAR - New skinner to do some work
Sniper - Advisor

I just wanted to say frosty i love what your doing, making a realism mod for bf2, its something ive been waiting for since the game came out. The only gripe i have so far is the weapon recoils, they seem to be more then they should be, atleast with the american weapons, those are pretty much the only ones ive fired in real life heh.. other then that, i love the damage system w/ the tanks and everything else, youve done a great job and im looking forward to more from you and your team!
and last are you guys looking for a website ? cause i can throw a layout together for you guys if need be :)

Oh yeah, I'm just curious; since you aren't going to have a special forces class in the next version of the modification, will there be another class that will be carrying satchel packs? Or are you removing that altogether as well?
I like the new changes to the classes, by the way. However, I have a gripe about the anti-tank class: I'm not sure how it is setup in the real Marine Corps, but as far as I know, the person carrying the anti-tank equipment usually holds at least two rounds, with the rest of the team carrying maybe one round. OR, there's a disposable anti-tank weapon along with a rifle. Can you shine any insight on this by any chance?

in the army at least, there is one person with a disposable rocket (at-4) per fireteam. A squad has up to 3 fire teams, Alpha Bravo and Charlie, with 4 people per fireteam +2 advanced marksman with spotters.
I took all above info from the Americas Army Special Forces game :)

I think that was one of BFV best featuers and to have that on a game that looked and played like BF2 I think it would go down a storm.

I don't know about the music but I don't think there are any cd players in an M1A2 Abrams. However if you remember some of the EA screenshots they had a rangefinder in the M1A2 Abrams ect. We're hoping to add that back on and maybe on the HUD of the ERYX/SRAW or something of the sort.

Really simple to enable in the editor.
I'm going to mess with it so I can tweak the effective ranges of the weapons.
I have the M9 set to be 80% to the chest and a kill shot to the head at point blank but anything over that is the same as the original game.A nice reward for players that sneakup on their enemies.

also got different ammo types on the abrams, with the correct amount of ammo, working on giving them icons and such - also since a Sabot breaks apart in the air (thanks slave for this info) we'll probably be making it's own effect so you see the sabot split about 50 yards out of the barrel.

Great mod, a few things that should be changed though: M4 is not three round burst, but fully automatic and semi automatic, and no AT mines? Also I love the sound effects, but I forgot which gun (PKM?) the sound ends abruptly, and has no trailing sound effects. Just sounds odd to me.

I have another suggestion (I apologize if this has been mentioned already).
Make it so that the pilot is the only kit allowed to operate aircraft. It just doesn't make any sense to have a pilot class available, but still allow any normal troop to suddenly jump into a jet or a helicopter and take off like a pro. I know that it is like this in the game anyways, and I don't have many complaints about it, but at least make the pilot class a little unique! ;)

A4 is semi/burst, A3 is full auto. Both are derivatives of the A2 with Picatinny rails. :x
If you ask me, it'd be a waste of time trying to implement an A4 to replace the A2, because there would be practically no difference at all. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
