Posting a profile picture

Why am I having so much trouble posting my profile pic? I shrunk it to 100 by 75. I converted it to a GIF,(in photoshop). When i go to my CP it shows, but when I post I see nothing. Some of you guys have reallly awesome ones. What am I dong wrong? Please provide all possible answers. Am I not enabling something that I should?

Is it under 64k aswell?
Did you try uploading at imageshack and then linking it from there?
