I did search. Could not find the criteria for them anywhere.
ubar.phusion site has N/A on them. Still I see some of the top dogs having them already like http://bf2tracker.com/bf2_userawdstats.php?bf2id=43478027
This guys has played a lot as USMC so does this mean that only USMC can have these?
Any info would be really welcome.

I don't think so, it is more like how many hours you have played on a certain field 5china, midle east, ....), that guy just plays a lot !!!!!!

ive seen a few people with these ribbons. the requirements seem to be 250+ global hours, and 48+hours with either MEC/China to get each one
edit: as you can see in the guys stats at the top of this thread, he has a china playtime of 48.3 hours, so it seems like 48 hours is indeed the minimum, and his playtime is 288 hours, so 250 is probably the correct global figure as well.....where the hell do these guy find the time? geez, do they ever go outside or are they 30 and living in their parents basement

http://bf2s.com/player/43406806/ <- This guy doesn't even have a full day in PLA yet he has the Far East ribbon. Therefore 48 is definitely not the minimum. I'm guessing the W:L ratio plays a role in these along with the best round score.

hmm good eye. maybe 24 hours is the minimum. i dont think win loss ratio plays a factor cause the requirements are "Time in Theatre" "Time in Service", nothing really bout W/L ratio

We need to find the lowest ranked person with these ribbons...that will give a better indication of the requirements.
Time in Theater refers to time spent in each map...so that is in addition to time spent as Chinese/MEC.
If true, then someone who rarely/never plays Zatar Wetlands for example might not be awarded the Scimitar ribbon.

im not sure what you mean by this. Time in theatre means time spent as the team, not each map. that would be impossible to calculate. if someone played 24 hours as MEC on Karkand, they should get the award. i dont see how you could calculate this on all 6 or so MEC maps

I disagree. If you goto the EA website they have a section to view the "theaters" available in BF2...which leads you to a map section.
Ever heard the term "theater of operation"? It certainly does apply to maps, not armies.
Time in service is time spent as the team...service in what? An army of course, MEC, China, USA.

well, according to this, time in service is 'time since you enlisted'
http://www.planetbattlefield.com/bf2/game/awards/
they got this info from the game files.
also, time in theatre on maps wouldnt make any sense. if you look at far east medal and the china medal (not ribbons), they require global time since enlisted and wins/plays on a particular team (time in theatre). if you havent noticed yet, the ribbons and medals of similar kind (ie armor ribbon & medal) have very similar requirements, so i would expect the same thing from the china and mec ribbons as well. its fine, believe what you want, if you think it has something to do with maps, thats great, but i dont think it does
edit: i think ive got some new info. i dont think wins/loses with a particular side count, as this guy has a win-loss deficit for both china & mec and still has the ribbons

I just wonder why EA won't give the official listing of all these awards. Very little effort on their part, but very big help to all of us.
btw. I asked this Sepander guy (I go to other forum with him) how did he get these and he just said that they suddenly came like out of the blue sky. So no idea except guesses presented here. My own guess is a total 250 + time spent in theaters.

yar i reckon, i looked at someones account stats...he had 255hrs in the mec maps (had the ribbon) and 210 hrs in the chinese maps (no ribbon)...my guess is the ribbons are rewarded for amount of time spent between those 2 time frames...i might look on at other peoples accounts to get a more definitive time range

Cause that will only encourage sta padders.
Ps how does Ubar know all thoise things? he couldnt tried it, cause noone has those ranks again, and noone has medales besides gold, silver, bronze and Purple Heart. also nobody has expert badges, or veteran(besides knife and pistol)
PS: Check out Marksman Medal, lol need to have all Expert badges

So what about sta padders. I for one would very much like to know the requirements if I'm in a hunt of a ribbon/medal. Points are garnered in between but the brass hunt makes this point system more interesting.
ubar question: Checking the files in bf2 folder. Or server side files.
EDIT: this guy says this and makes sense to me.
250 hours total game time (1w 3d 10h)
100 total wins with china (far east ribbon) and MEC (mid east ribbon)

yes, you could be right. out of everything ive read an seen, there seem to be 2 major conditions
1. global hours must be = 250 hours or more
2. one of two conditions, not sure which one:
a) need 100 wins with a particular side
b) need to play as a particular side for 24+ hours
win-death ratio is not a factor at all
edit: im sorry, 2. a) is not a required condition. look at this guys stats:
http://bf2s.com/player/43505395/ . he only has 77 wins as china, but his playtime is just over a day, therefore, i think we can conclude you only need 24+ hours / side to get it

well xcalibur if that is tru than i gotta play like another 100 frigin hours to get the ribbons(i have like 50 hours of mec>i love mec<and have over 100 wins)

haha, ya man i feel ya. im only just around 90 hours so it seems i got a ways to go to get the 250 hour requirement, and as you can see from my sig, i love collecting awards. i also love mec, i already have over 24 hours of mec to get the ribbon, but i gotta work on chinese cause i only have like 10 hours with them. but the positive thing is, at 250 hours, alot of awards begin to become available (china/mec ribbons, good conduct ribbon, veteran badges, etc)
