Jeeps and Crap

Ya, I'm new here, so you don't know me, and I don't know you guys, so I'm not sure how you'll take this. Anyway...

Since I've started playing BF2 -- like a week ago (coolest game ever) -- I've noticed that the lighter, machine gun-mounted vehicles aren't quite popular amongst most players, but I've actually been able to put em to some pretty good use. I mean on routine I'll simply approach an enemy position and, while maintaining a safe distance from the target, open fire with the mounted machine gun and kill them all. If I need to get a better angle or find safety, I'll switch back to driver position and relocate. After all, the jeeps have excellent mobility. (Just watch out for tanks and crap. Ehhhhh...)

Or I can just back up friendly troops who are entering a hostile position. It really helped out in the Kubra Dam. While a friendly tank was holding the spot in the middle of the dam, I was about fifty yards back and suppressing enemy troops on the scaffold. Of course I've seen the same thing done with tanks, but the jeep seems kind of under-rated, from what I've seen. Your thoughts and opinions?

Small vehicles can be quite usefull, when used by a devious mind.
I prefer not to blow my vehicles up, instead I tend to use the mounted MG to shoot stuff with.
Choppers can be taken down with accurate fire from the MG. If your vehicle is behind a wall, and you man the MG, you can shoot over most walls while your vehicle is under cover. You will be a harder target to hit, and I mowed down waves of attackers at Karkland with this approach.
Beware the well intentioned teammate who hops in your vehicle and drives you away from an excellent firing position! lol.

for one thing, the .50 cals on the HMVs are crap. You can blast away at someone standing still, and not hit them.

These vehicles are totally neglected. I will take these ideas into account next time i hop into a battlefield. Most of the time everyone is busy running to the A/C or the tanks, usually leaving these behind for people that just want to transport to the other side of the map. Tanks are an absolute hassle. Paying attention to location is very important when going for that sunday drive and splatter.

I love the buggy's and jeeps. They're very fast. Tho I really really dislike that they don't have good grip. I mean they slip and slip and slip its gettin annoyin.
but all in all preffered vehicle cus of their speed :D

Yeah because in a jepp you have armor, and it's impossible to shoot them, and they aren't open and exposed, and a noob tube wont take them out.. and.....Oh, wait.

Not even, they are easy targets taking a risk. I frequently kill 'em with a head shot.

killing gunners in a jeep is pretty darn easy i love killing them cuz they think they are just owning every one but i just hs them and they are done in a second blowing up a jeep is the easyest thing any ways id like to see some one whore a jeep

Another good jeep tip:

On maps that have bases surrounded by fences, a great tactic in the jeep is to position yourself behind the fence and fire away at infantry. While infantry and MG bullets will be able to hit you, the fence protects your vehicle from tank rounds, AT missles, Helicopter missles, etc... Fences are great cover for the MG on light vehicles.

Carjackers! Many a time I've been firing on a chopper and someone hops in and just drives away.. or, worse, drives around slowly (maybe trying to help), but you can't hit anything when the damn thing is moving.

Just drive past a bit, then bail, if they blow up your jeep it is just as good as you pushing the plunger....

I love seeing someone park a jeep and jump in the gunner position. Almost guarantees a headshot since there is little movement.

I play on Karkand quite a bit with M95 and it seems people have learned that gunner positions die very fast.

the jihad jeep is easy. 2 way. C4 under the car, find someone to blow up, push the button, and watch the jeep fly into the air for added goodness. Or drive up to a tank, park right next to it, honk the horn a couple times so they blow u up.

Nah Ive tried the car bomb and the jeep only goes about 3 feet then stops. Iam forced to run away because the guy in the tank/apc has noticed me. I end up getting killed really fast because of this crappy techniqe.

why wouldnt you bail?...if you bail out you at least have a chance of survival, if you stay in, you are definatly dead.

I personally have found great use of the jeeps / vans and light vehicles.

Pros:
Quickly travel large distances
Transport more backup with you
Supress the enemy
Cover teamates

Cons:
The jeeps and light vehicles in the game need shock absorbers. WTH !every minor bump should not damage the vehicle!!!
Your a tank magnet
Your an RPG magnet
Most drivers dont look down and run right over mines "both teammates and enemy mines":confused:

this is a kinda old technique (jihad jeep) and also frowned apon by many players - including me, but i must admit killing a spawn camping apc this way is sublime.

I love using jeeps on all maps because they have so many advantages over other vehicles:

1) They are extremely fast at making the initial cap on a flag
2) They mow down infantry
3) They can outmaneuver a helicopter + gunner any day of the week (if a helicopter tries descending on you, you can move towards him and under his firing arc VERY FAST)

The only problem is you tradeoff armor for agility (you're open to noob-tubes / small arms fire, but become too fast for helicopters).

LOL. I love the jihad jepp but i personaly thing tht people who bail from their jihad jeeps are pussys! The jeep dosent even reach the vehicle s u still die but dont get a kill!

It is also fun to get in a jeep and drive strait at a tank and swerve on your way there. The tank driver thinks ur a suicide jeep and jumps outa the tank and runs. You hop in the tank and kill him
