Official Battlefield 2 Site Update - Unlocked Weapons

Did you notice that all the weapons in Battlefield 2 that you haven't earned were unlocked? EA have updated their site explaining this problem, as well as announcing a solution.
<blockquote>Many users logged into Battlefield 2 today to discover that they had access to all of the game's weapons unlocked in their profile. We have fixed the root issue that caused this to occur and by tomorrow morning all users will return to having access only to the weapons which they had earned. Once our solution is in place, if you find that you do not have access to weapons appropriate to your in-game rank, please direct inquiries to the Support sites linked below. In some cases users may be prompted to re-select the Unlock weapons that they are eligible for (if you are eligible for two weapons you will get to choose the two you wish to have unlocked). </blockquote>

<b>Update 1:</b>
Is appears the <i>vast</i> majority of users are having problems logging into their BF2 account. We can only assume this is a side-effect of EA applying the fix explained above.

I hope I get to rechoose, ive had the option to test out all the weapons online which was a big help to me, and i will be trading in my G3 and G36C for L85A1 and DAO or Jackhammer, not sure which. The G36C is a really good gun, but Ive been using anti-tank alot and the AT weapons have been pissin me off.

we were kicked from our game - probably to "update" our accounts.

We froze on reconnect to account server, and had to hold down the start computer button (after trying to CTRL-ALT-DELETE - and ALT_TAB'ed to no avail).

Nothing worked. - an hour later...

This was the 8th time I have held down the START BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS on my computer since I owned it.

ALL were due to BF-2 hanging my system.

I am no noob, and know how to carefully wait until pressing many keys, and waiting 30 or more seconds before pressing another command such as CTRL-ALT-DEL.

The fact is that BF-2 crashes computers...period.

I challenge someone to point to hardware or connection faults on my end, and to vindicate EA's poor programming

Such is the case with this game.

I call it the "BF-2 Lockup"

All of our internet connections fail to keep up with the game. (Cable: 3000 /256 ).

I find myself at desktop... suddenly alot - more than any game ever, on any computer.

I get "Connection Problems" more than any game ever, on any computer.

I "Fail to Connect to Account Server" more than any game ever, on any computer.

I have :

AMD 64 3200+
ATI X-800 XL (256)
Two Gigs Corsair 3200@400 Dual Channel
450 Watt Psu
Abit Fatality AN-8 Mobo
Tons of fans (Hottest it ever gets on CPU is 53 c).

I think that it is all due to the massive internet pipeline needed to run a game, and we all have to bottleneck somewhere.

Man I am pissed, I just got my helicopter ribbon and now it is not recording because of this. I can't login either. Well I hope at least I get to rechoose some of my unlocks. This rank system keeps having more problems, they should just let open it to the community and let the modder finish it. I am also glad zero2zero hack it, I am just mad at EA for leaving such a back door in the first place.

Things like that happen. They can happen a lot in the gaming industries. Actually, i cant see a major "AAA" title where that didnt happen.

Looking at HL2, they had various issues with different graphics card and the annoying sound bug, which still occurs on some systems. then the whole steam stuff and "friends network" stuff, that sucked.

Look at "Worlds of Warcraft", look into the class forums. Full of complaints and people crying, "the game is **** and blizzard is the worst game developer ev0r!!!"

Battlefield 2 has problems, no doubt. But they are working on them, so lean back and relax, play the game and enjoy your life. After all its just a game. Think about how much negative energy you put into it.

I just think it sucks that you have a game, and that you cannot play it because accountservers are down. I mean rankingstuff is al well but if I want to play bf42 orso online I can do that without loggin in to anything. I mean you can't even play on unranked servers without logging in. It's stupid. Another thing is maybe we don't play it anymore by then but if they pull the plug from the accountservers the game dies or am I wrong. So say you made a mod like DC a big one that last for years (member counterstrike) they have to have those accountservers running.

Today i got a reply on an email i sended to EA support, i've sended the email on their request; i phoned the NL supportdesk they couldnt help me right away, they weren't even know with the problem.

The reply say:

Geez guys chill out. It takes more than 5 minutes to fix anything. I imagine the reason guns are locked and the unable to log in issues are because they're fixing the problem now. I doubt EA is just going to take everything you've earned away just for fun. Personally I think they're going to let everyone unlock their weapons again. That just seems much easier than trying to narrow down the people that had all of their weapons unlocked.

I know your all goin to hate me...severely but..I have my unlock back...I logged on it was shown in BFHQ as unlocked...but then when i came to play it wasn't selectableso i disconnected from one of the VERY few servers with a ping as big as EA's fix bill so i went in one on my own to make a "movie" and hey presto it was there I was chuffed but the people who then joined didn't like me very much and the fact that their unlock..was not unlocked.So I left before the death threats were flung. Lol
Any who, sorry to "rub it in" but I hope you get your unlocks back ASAP because I need some gaming fun with my L8A51 Rifle instead of shooting someone easily, I need a challenge!

Sorry, but I have for now, joined the "can't be ar**ed to look" people, to see if you had a reply to that Q of yours m8, but FYI it "normally" depends on whether the server you have joined allows all the players to use the unlocked weps or not.

It's "normally" a server admin choice when setting the server up like setting the number of tickets, time, etc.

For u poindexters that shut off ur machine when BF2 locks it up: unplug your modem and wait instead. The game will release ur computer from it's death lock after a few moments and u can safely shut the game down.

EA is doing a hard work, and this game is awsome when you can play it.
And if you count all the hours this game has been **** and not working and when you had a good time with it, the good time would win.

So go out and relax and let EA fix this without hearing complainments which stresses them.

hi i would just like to say i dont surport cheaters or use them my self in any way!
for one theres no point reporting cheaters as they only get there IP banned for a week!
theres been no known game keys banned as yet as we know as this would of been a topic of converstaion!
an another side to this is if they running a router or multi IP`s they can easily get back on think about b4 u post stupid remarks.
an no body gets any thing from cheating for a start,the cheater knows him self that he aint done it him self ie THE HARD WORK OF THE GAME so he or she is a **** in the first place for cheatin :mad:

I hope I get to rechoose, ive had the option to test out all the weapons online which was a big help to me, and i will be trading in my G3 and G36C for L85A1 and DAO or Jackhammer, not sure which. The G36C is a really good gun, but Ive been using anti-tank alot and the AT weapons have been pissin me off.

Yeah I ****ed up too by unlocking the PKM... and now all I want is the DAO...

goddamn.. I wish they would **** up my account so I could get my unlocks reset :P

You should choose the pkm as the last weapon to unlock and the G3 should be the first.
