A few days ago I got some graphical glitches in BF2.

I joined in mid round on a swedish BF2 ranked server, got into a BH. While flying over the map (Zatar Wetland I think it was). The groundtextures (the grass stuff), became black in some areas and switching between the two quite often.

Shortly after the round ended and the next one begun. Now the (almost) the entire carrier had black textures (exept for some details such as ladders), because of these errors I decided to quit the game to check the GPU temperatures, however the game freezed and the font became messed up and eventually the game crashed.

I checked the temperatures and they where normal so I started the game again, this time all graphical errors where gone, however (I hate those) every time I died or was hit so I got the "hit by grenade" (lack of a better work) vision the game slowed to a slow-motion.
After this I decided to lower the graphic settings and the problems where gone - until today.

The problems today begans as those discribed in the paragraph above, but later became MUCH worse. I got huge graphical glitches as in streched polygons, messed on text, very low fps, but the HUD itself seemed to be uneffected by the errors. It got so worse that the streched polygons covered the entire screen making it impossible to see anything (this lead to my death while in the boat as a gunner).

I was monitoring the GPU temperatures while playing the game and it NEVER got above 65 degrees C.

I haven't reinstalled BF2 since these problems begun, but I will do that tomorrow after I've done another run monitoring all temperatures and voltages to see if the hardware looks okay.

Running game at medium settings @ 1024x768@85Hz

My system specs are as follows:

P4 2.6GHz Northwood C (800MHz FSB, Hyperthreading)
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe (Bios 1010)
2 x 512 MB DDR400 Samsung modules
ASUS V9950 (GeForce FX 5900 128 MB) w/ 77.72 drivers, no overclocking, replaced cooling to VF700-Cu
1x 180 GB Hitachi IDE HD (game and OS on this drive)
2x 160 GB Seagate S-ATA HDs (pagefile on one of these HDs)
Antec TruePower 550W PSU (replaced a faulty Chieftec 350W PSU last year)
WinXP SP2, reformatted 1 week ago

The game has worked perfectly except for these errors.

Anyone have any ideas of the cause of these errors?

Thanks in advance.

Dude...im runnings a fx5900 also with 256mb from albatross and having the same damn problems. I am also stuck in a fight with ea tech support(or lack there of). But for now its fixed i guess by turning everything to low and slowly coming up and deleting cache file every time. so far its fixed.

It is graphical corruption. ATI has problems with this as well. I have to set my textures and geometries on medium to rid myself of it. Try this first. Otherwise consult the Nvidia website and see if you can find known issues with BF2 and the version driver you are running.

Kingofchaos do you remeber helping me on this exact same prob? I found nothing with nvidia and ea is saying the probs on my end so far. Everything from mobo drivers to the kind of keyboard im using. They are picking my pc to death but not mentioning there may be a programming error. Anyways...kings right, back your settings to nothing and delete the shader cache file in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache...then bump one setting at a time up deleting that cache file everytime you do it until u get to the level u can accept without graphical corruption.
Good Luck...it frustrated me for 3 weeks!
