Who Dares Wins (http://wdw.bf1942files.com/) posted a small update of an unskinned render of a M60 machine gun. The M60 fires 7.62mm ammunition and is well known and probably extremely familiar to those who have played Battlefield Vietnam.

Is this for an older Mission in WDW? The reason I ask is because currently the M60E3 and E4 are being used primarily by US Navy SEALs. This version is not used by current US Military.
Perhaps it is actually an OPFOR weapon?

The way we are releasing WDW-2 is like this:

If you take a look at our map list, you'll find our first release includes 9 maps, and then we will release subsequent "game packs", as it were, which will add roughly 3 new maps apiece, all relating to a different special-force or specific campaign; you'll see what i mean when you see the map list.

IDF campaign (Israeli Spec-Force):
Entebbe
Beaufort Castle
Sayeret Golani in Lebanon

Falklands Campaign (SAS):
South Georgia invasion (Operation Rosario)
Battle of Mount Kent
Pebble Island Raid

Panama Campaign:
Presidente Porras raid
Ranger drop on Rio Hato airfield
Noriega's Learjet

So as you can see, for our first release, none of the 'campaigns' are particularly modern. There will however, im sure, be E3's and E4's, when we finally get round to doing the modern Iraqi conflict (if, indeed, we do).

As you can see from above, my question was if this weapon was for a mission IN WDW that is not modern, meaning "older".

AFAIK the M60 was not used in those "camapigns", however I am not 100 % sure, I dont believe it was used in Panama by US forces, I have never seen video or pics that showd US troops with it.
I don't know if SAS used it in the Falklands, never seen any pics or documentation that they did indeed.
AFAIK, perhaps the M60 WAS used in the Israeli Missions you detail, they do have a history of using any available weapon at the time, even if it was not contemporary, so perhaps it was used here.

Could you describe when/where this M60 will be implemented/featured in your Mod?
Thanks.

I just make guns! We have a couple of guys who have books upon books on info about Spec Forces (at least, the info they want us to know. Obviously, when dealing with forces as secretive as these, all details we have are fairly tentative) and they tell us monkeys what to make! I'll ask the mod leader who actually uses it.

While we strive for realism, at times we may put a gun in that wasn't actually there, to balance it out. Realisms one thing, but no one wants to play against a team who have a huge advantage over you. But i'll ask and get back to you!

Ok, it's being used by the PDF as their portable machine gun on all three of their maps.
