all they need is some sweet *** bolt action animations like COD or RO and they will be set.

The Mosin Nagant has a very bold color to it, kinda too bright IMO.

actually the animations are being worked on right now by bobton, as I understand he has quite a few done.

Battlegroup for BF2 will rock my pants like it did for BFV.
On another note, these are the first custom models that I've seen in BF2. Nice work.

purdy, but imo they would look better with a bit of a worn look to them. dont make em look so shiney and new, makes em look a bit cartoonish

Just like to say great work on those weapons, the graphics look great on them which I wasn't expecting since you probably made them based on the BF42 engine and apparently graphics imported like that severly suffer.
Three Most can't-wait mods to play:
1. BG42
2. Dice City 2
3. Forgotten Hope 2

sweet! it looks really good rendered with the dynamic lightning in bf2.

The bright colors you have mentioned have been brought to the team's attention. It was more to just get the models in game and then tweak the skins from there depending upon the dynamic lighting. Thanks for the comments and look for more in-game screens of some of your favorite WWII weapons soon!

Both guns look cartoony, whatever happend to making wood the color of wood? and not to shiny, maybe splash a little dirt on them...

These rifles are not 60 years old. That is what I was told by our gun expert and it made total sense not to make them grungy after that.

Im WW2 Weapons werent shiny at all. Sure during parade time they would lacquer and shine them up, but when it came to going back into combat the lacquer/polish/whater was stripped down to remove any shine. Why?
Shine = Glare = SPOTTED = Dead.
So.......shiny = bad.

You make a good point about the shine, I didn't think about that/had not read that. Still, I would rather shoot a shiny rifle than an ugly one ingame :).
Yes, they look good to me as well, also to everyone else I show. Raslin must be one in a million :\.

I read it in a Paratroopers Novel.
All the Way to Berlin. He mentioned it it there and complained about how much of a pain it was just for the 'Brass'.
Doesnt really matter to me, as long as their not super shiny. Its really hard to get good wood coloring across thru a digitally created image (Imo anyway).
Im not gonna say Boo till I see the Garand, then my mind will be made up.
Raslin

Well, its hard to say. The metal isnt bad on them, but the skins look like they were lower res than BF2 weapons normally are, and the wood looks strange... The mosin wood isnt bad, but the Kar wood just looks wierd...
Sorry I cant get more specific

Hmm, it would look cool if those rifles could be a lill "raped" like there would be some scratches and mud stains. I think it would look really great! :p

Skins looks good, like everyone has said, just fix the brightness and maybe throw on some battlescars (nicks, dinks, scratches and what not) and make the damn things bigger (so they look realistic to the hand models and make them longer, the real rifles are both pretty damn long, i know this because my brother owns a K98 and has my Nagant til I get back)

Sorry bobton have to agree with every1 else - firearms certainly were not "shiny" on the battlefield nor does anyone really want to play with weapons outta the box - i think from reading the replies the general consensus is clear... (units often matted their rifles for the exact reason burke pointed out)
give us dirt give us grime - heck knows my foxhole aint clean.
more particularly - turn down the saturation on the wood. etches, cracks?
scratches and stains on metal? tone down reflection accordingly?
and dont mean to be a bummer but the size concern is justified - look at the scale of the rifle in comparison to hand? otherwise bring the fingers in?
otherwise keen to see how this pans out - lot of good work done in previous engines. looks like you've got some strong competition with the way forgotten hope is panning out :p hopefully you will up the anti hey?
back to it boys!!!

Careful, criticising the work in any way will get bobton calling you a fanboy.

I'll see what I can do about the shine, the K98 was the first weapon I put into game (July 23rd I think) and I was just learning then. I've put in a hell of a lot more weapons into game and have learned alot about normal maps and such. I'm not going to skin mud stains or grime though. As for the Mosin wood, all I can say is that it looks pretty much like the wood when compared to our mapper's mosin nagant.
Raslin, I don't like you because of the way you act. Your version of criticism is just saying something sucks without reason, then when I ask for a reason you give nothing solid :rolleyes:. You attack people for no good reason, and if there is a reason it is because they clearly can model better than you. Of course your past relations with BG42 come into play greatly as well (fanboy).
