That's the best RTS Game Ever!!! im like in love of R:TW
by the way, another really great underated game that i really like it was "Act of War" the problem is that the AI in skirmish mode its kind of .... powerfull, dificult, awesome, oh and cheater of course :P

Total annihalation pwnzors it was probably the first game i ever played and i still do..tis the best strategy made...not like C&C generals...there jus isnt any strategy in that...

i just tried the Dawn of War demo, and im just asking myself "Why the hell i didnt bought this game???" i mean, its really nice, specially the huge variety of units and upgrades, i hope i can get the retail version tomorrow

RTW is crap, unfortunately. The AI was horrible (I once stopped an army of about 600 with 60 german spearmen, the AI just kept coming head on to me rather than flanking me), horses are overpowered and aren't easily stopped by spearmen (which they should be), and, unless the lag problem was fixed recently, you can't play games online at all.

A real good RTS is Kohan 2: Kings of War, but not many people play it online. It is one of the few games which is an actual strategy game rather than a mass unit fest like most RTS's are.

Starcraft was great back in the day and still is but I don't really play it anymore.

my favourites are:

Rome Total War with either the Rome Total Realism mod or the SPQR 3.0 mod
C&C Series, (All of them!) :o
Age of Empires 2 classic.
Also Ground Control 1 & 2. Any fans of that game here?

do like drunkenpirate, try the SPQR mod, its one of the best things that RTW has to offer :P

by the way, what about Age of Empires 3?? at first i didnt like it at all (screens, of course) because of the napoleonic era and stuff, i really feel that the combat type of that era its.. retarded, so i didnt like it at all, but after i saw a couple of videos i went like :rock: and to be honest i cant wait for the day to be released

yea great game, i tried out the demo for ee2 and liked it, i never got around to buying it though. I probably won't with F.e.a.r. just around the corner.. And then when i'm done with that age of empires 3 will probably be out.. :cry:

Star Craft overall.

The orginal WARCRAFT, I remember becoming GENERAL in the first level hehehe. I killed everything but one farm and then built buildings on every bit of land I could! Woooo...

Dune 2 and total annihilation.... Very hard core rts games right there[i believe i still have both]original c&c, tiberian sun and firestorm, RED ALERT1and2andyurisrevenge, and warcrafts, now times probaly dawn of war,generalspluszerohour, ...
Act of war was good as well.
emperor battle for dune, dune 2000, caeser 3, blitzkreig, sudden strike[1and2andexpansion], groundcontrol, empire earth were all good rts games but underated. Hmm not sure if i named all the ones i played but i enjoyed all of them.

Warcraft 1, C&C, Total Annihilation. all good ones.

Act of War is pretty sick, better then Generals IMO, Empires: Dawn of the Modern World was cool too, playing as WWII countries ownd.

Right now I would say Age of Empires III is looking nice, can't wait.

Aside from true RTS, Panzers: Phase One and Two are awesome, and all 3 commandos games are too, but they're not really RTS, neither is Silent Storm or Fallout: Tactics but they are also in there somewhere, maybe but they're not so much turn-based as they are as much RT and they are strategic, just no base building, so I'm not sure what genre they would fit in exactly. Check em out though if you haven't already.

i prefer the turn based strategy, but out of them two i enjoy civ 2, rome total war, axis & allies iron blitz edition, pool of radiance.just to name a few.

fallout tactics is one of the best games ever, all the fallout games are classics. they really should redo them. gameplay over graphics but they are so ugly i cant stand it.

Total Anhilation was awesome. C&C (old ones before and including RA2 except for Tiberian Sun which was medicore), RON, and DOW were also pretty good. And of course Starcraft.
