Put simply, the game is brilliant... But all the servers are peoples home PC with stupid settings like double speed and your not allowed to change your settings in game like audio to turn up the VOIP basically just really really bad servers. Would there be any distinct chance of MyIS getting a dedicated server for it like your BF2 ones etc. a server that for once people don't have to worry about crappy settings or ridicules lag!

For the love of Mary and all thats bizarre please at least consider this.

Hmmm... we've been considering getting a server hosted off someones computer that isn't used, so the server would be up 24/7.

However, I like your idea, hadn't thought of it.

I'll see if we can ask MyIS, or Dan to ask them.

The VA has been considering it for a while. The problem is that it cant be run on an ordinary server in a rack, because it requires you to actually run the game. This again requires the server to have a proper graphics card, which no rack server has. So the only option is to have a separate computer run it from home somewhere, and then use remote desktop to control it.

Also, we need an extra CDkey for the game to host the server. This means you got to buy an extra copy of the game.

Another option is to use FShost, but it doesnt have the same audience as gamespy (it requires a separate client program). The server software on this can however be run on a rack server, without the extra cost of buying an extra copy of the game.

Not at all. Put all the graphics on minimum and turn sound and all qualities to bear minimum and ta daaaa... I'm sure MyIS can afford the game (Deluxe version) considering it won't need to be charged per month, just a one time purchase :D

PS: Smilies don't work :( you can't click on them on the right, have to type them normally).

You have to type : grin : for the smiley.

You dont have to actually load up scenery, but the graphics card has to be supported for the game to start up at all. Thats the problem here.

Alright Guys,

according to MyIS, since theres no Dedicated Server file, they can't host a server for us, however, if someone can find something or someway to get a dedicated server file, or a co-located local machine thing, then they can do it for us.

Do some research things

Microsoft being Microsoft never released any server files... So as no one has a home PC with a 100MB cable line like servers... We are destined for terrible servers :(

Make sure you have the client, not FSHOSTSPY.

The FShostspy works too.

You need EITHER FShostClient or FShostSpy to connect to a server.

To HOST A SERVER, you need FShost.

If we made it a FSHost server would people be able to see it from the in game browser?

SnowControl

Nope. Only through FShostSpy. Which makes it less visible to the public.

And then it was put back up, and it does get used (just) I think the main reason is that nobody knows how to use FS Host.

I was on it Wednesday, practicing my landings :) With failures as well (Random failure made me lose airspeed dial, center gear and right gear  then I decide for random engine failure. I found out it was a FIRE!!! and a baron doesn't have fire supression)

Well any experienced pilot would know to fly upside down above the sea and put it out wuth the propellor spray. :D
