Had this problem with punkbuster, it was mobo chipset driver related. No idea if this is your problem tho.

Wow, it looks like all the old RVS players and current Swat 4 players are coming to the dark side. Anyways Shadow if you have updated your BF2 to 1.02 run your PBweb (punkbuster update) and run again. Next depending on your video card you should set your AGP aperture size to 128 ( yes, some can argue to 256) but i do not know how much ram you have or type of video card. Also if you set your audio to hardware not software and then set it to high that should help some. As for myself i have 1GB of ram am going to get another 1GB of ram. If you match your desktop resolution and your in game resolution that should help too, very much like the same issue as Ravenshield (RVS). These are some of the things i would recommend.

Same problem here, the screen gets all funky and it looks like the game is going to crash, then it just goes back to normal. My favorite time for this to happen is when I'm flying.

Run fraps and see if it's fps related or a connection problem.

Not enough RAM? I get this and I have 512kb RAM. I happens mostly in the beginning of a round, when certain animations/graphics haven't been fully loaded yet.

I freeze every few mins as well. I ran anti virus, spyware and adaware and a defrag. No virus, no spyware no ads. I even updated PB and i still freeze every so often. It just started doing this yesterday. Im out of options and patience with this game. I can play BF1942 forgotten hope good but i freeze for a sec on there as well. I ahve the latest 78.01 WHQL drivers for my video card. I updated motherboard drivers and sound card drivers with little or no effect. Btw my video card is not O/C.

Your just going to ignore my suggestion?
I love it when I find solutions for people and Im 90% sure this is is going to solve your issue. I assume u guys have PCI-Express cards and the thing is you have to lower (in some cases higher) the latency. Just download this program called PCI Latency Tool 2.3 and follow these instructions..
You can download this small utility program that allows you set your PCI latency. Adjust the PCI latency from for example 248 to 64, and there's a very good chance of stutter free performance & sound.
STEP 1. open the pci latency tool
STEP 2. Rightclick on your graphics card and click change setting(s)
STEP 3. change to desired setting and hit ok
Step 4. click settings and select apply at startup so it has a tick next to it
STEP 5. click settings and select save so everything you have just done is saved
STEP 6. right click on your video card and click quickset latency (if you want to set it straight away).
You can get the utility here http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951
and look further in to it in the forums. Hope this helps!

I know for sure its not my hardware. When i freeze a min or two later i lost connection to the server. So it has to be my connection. Ill have to contact my ISP and ask them whats going on. Ill still use that latency tool.
