Pretty nice! if it was not for the music i would rate this nice vid a 7/10.
^in reply to the nvg's being thermal and night vision you are wrong. If you have ever looked through thermal goggles, you would know that it is totally Black & White w/o a green light glow. Also, thermal goggles do not go very far at all. All of the screens i see the nvg's used, it is far distences where thermal would not reach.

Thats not the point. If you notice in the vids the night vision lights up the enemy as if they also responded to heat sources. (Hence I said they combined them) Night vision will not light up heat sources more than any other surface, unless its like a lightbulb, fire, etc. In some parts the people are like 5x brighter than the surfaces around them.

Wow, it looks alot better than I originally imagined. I'm gonna have to agree with reaver though, the zip-line did look kinda fake lol. It just shoots and within a second the line is up and ready to go. Looks exactly the same game though with night vision and new maps and weapons. Looks like I better start savin up, I don't come across money too often :(

BTW the end is the best...he's shooting at 5 guys, hides for a second, and a jeep comes through and runs a few over ;P

I hope they make some sort of animation for the zip line. It was like some sorta insta-zip. O_o Kinda found it funny that vehicle just ran someone over after he zipped down the zipline down. Liked the teargas effect, would like to see some flashbangs too. :p Although I can hear it now... "OMG NOOB TEARGAS PLAYERS CAN'T KILL SOMEONE WITHOUT THEM BLURRING MY VISIONS!!1!!!one!1!shift!11" But eh, it'll be a good tactic in squad play. (then again, I like the SWAT series too, which is what all this reminds me of)

As for buying it....eh, call me a naysayer, but I probably won't pre-order. I'm waiting to see how it turns out after release, but if the public response is good, I might get it if things continue to look good.

Meh, BF2 at night with NVGs. Big deal. Zip line looks just like I thought it would, not realistic at all. Tear gas "effect" is exactly like any other game with a "tear gas effect". Nice to see that I'm not the only one that experiences shooting and shooting at someone and nothing happens.
And dear Lord what the f*%^ is up with that horrible, gross sounding sound they called "music"???! Good God, they even mentioned their "music" choice! As if it were a good thing! Nuts! I'll buy it, but not because it's so much better or enhanced than vanilla BF2, it's just some more stuff they got in there. One thing for sure it better not be $50 US. Not for an expansion with 3 features.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for fastroping from the BlackHawk like they promised when they first announced BF2 and released their screenshots.
Anyone remmeber that?? And the MEC skins?? And the different Urban Maps???

Forth Death Touch you wont be seeing any of that stuff anytime soon if not at all (maybe in a expansion). All that stuff was cut from the game long ago and was even taken out of the code. Cause the screenshots you saw long ago was actually Bf2 on a revamped BFV engine they used to test somethings while the final BF2 engine was being worked on.

Looks great, but they really need to do something for the zip-line, the animation is horrible. The teargas seems to last five secs, like the smoke grenade in BF2. :|:

That's all very nice and stuff but the problem is that iron sights are completely cosmetic instead of functional. When you fire full auto the bullets will be hitting outside the aiming circle which is rather stupid, they should base it on recoil not on crosshair spread. It's the only way to make iron sights realistic.

Everything having a green glow is only fun for a couple of rounds. Zip lines look very unrealistic too, not something I expected from a game like bf2. I also fear that it will focus heavily on infantry which is not my cup of tea, I don't play BF because I want an infantry shooter.

Notice the flag they capped had the British's Union Jack?

The vehicle at the end was weird...it was some kind of 6-wheeled buggy? I did a search for it but I couldn't find the vehicle on any of the DoD websites.

The weapon, as noted in the other thread, was a G36E not a G36C that our Special Ops uses.

i can already see the teargas being a problem. Get a support and a (whatever has teargas) together and people will spam teargas.

Also i can see them using them on thier own teammates just for the hell of it.

It will cost around 30 bucks but the fastroping Screenshots were for Desert Combat. They just never put them in the mod. And for the MEC skins, it wasn't politically correct to put them in. The MEC is supposed to be an organized army, not a terrorist organization...

i read this whole thread and i cant seem to figure out what people expect from expansions?. an expansion adds more maps, vehicles, weapons, teams, features and all new content for the original game. what do you people expect a whole new completely different game for half the price? i think this expansion looks great and im gonna get it.

things like the instant zipline thing will be fixed. theres also crosshairs on ironsights which im sure will be fixed too. i liked how the nightvision has an energy metre so you cant run around with it on the whole time.

Hey as*hole, DICE Canada had nothing to do with BF2. It practically is a different company. Its closer to Ford making a defective car and then Nissan fixing it... DICE is working on the Expansion as well as some other unkonwn project for X-Box 360 and such.

Besides, have you even heard about Patch 1.03 or whatever? Over 150 fixes. That right there obviously means they are working their asses off on fixing up BF2.

However I do agree with you on that stat sh*t. I hate stats. Makes everyone play immature, unfair, and everyone is independant on their own damn score. That negates teamwork by a ton. ANyways, I have develpoped a strategy against stats, don't play on stat servers.

Well, going by our first comment going directly towards me, yes you are. Sorry if you were not trying to sound offensive though, it just seemed that way from the way you typed it.

Anyway I payed for a game I knew would be good, but like most games there would be patches fixing certain bugs and such. Most of the things they are fixing are not bugs, but ended up not working great when mass played or whatever, which was only proven once the game was released.

Yeah true about not getting unlocked weapons, and I worked hard for a while just to get an unlock. I just put a few days into getting an unlock, and now I can use it on most unranked servers forever, so I think its worth working towards getting an unlock for just a few days. However its not too worth it if your looking for 3 unlocks or more....

DICE Canadea has nothing to do with *the making of BF2*, however yes they are making an expansion for it.

I agree. Fix the game before the expansion. I also understand their business side of this. They wanted to get the expansion out before the mods. Look at the bf1942 expansions. They did decent but would have done even better if they hadnt had to compete with some nice mods.

Yes and It has been like that since the announcement of BF2: SF

They are doing it like that so that problems with Battlefield 2 can be handled seperately and not interrupt the development of SF.

the only probelm i see with special forces (which can be a big problem) is that its mostly nightvision and ive never really enjoyed playing in nightvision. (it takes away from the graphics of the game)

I know what you mean. I wish they'd do (hope they do?) a night level like the one in Road to Rome where there's a lot of dark clouds, maybe some rain, and lightning flashes. Now that would be cool...

I know this thread is about special Forces (Of which I am looking forward to with interest) but I saw this post and had stick my ten pence worth in.

To be honest, I am glad that companies like EA are still updating this game. It shows that they care enough about it that there is some aftersales customer care put in. Computing nowadays is all about online communities and EA know which side thier bread is buttered. If they want to sell Special Forces and any other number of spin offs and add ons then they need to keep updating and taking an interest in their released games. How many 'Online' games have you played where the game dies after six months because there is no developer input. They release it, sell a few copies then forget about it. I'm not sure that EA are going about it the right way there are some fairly basic gameplay issues that just shoudn't have been released, but otherwise alot of the adjustments can only come from months of 'online' Game testing by you, Joe Bloggs. They should take a leaf from Valves 'Steam' system. Innovative, customer orientated and very personable. So I say yes, lets have lots of updates. Give me more for my pounds, give me new maps, new skins, new vehicles, adjusted scoring. Drip feed me if you like or give it to me in one big dollop of downloaded goodness. Just give it to me. And look after the game you have sold me.
